I am looking to buy a LH Stainless Mirage prop that will work on a 2000 Yamaha SWS ox66 250. It needs to be set up for a counter rotating unit and I'm looking for a 21P. Let me know if anyone has on laying around they want to sell. Thanks!

With single engine are you sure you can turn a 21? the most I could turn with my ox250 was a 19p?

Not positive...a 21p was recommended and I figured it would be a good starting point. Was the 21P you had on one of your 233's with a 250? I'm open for recommendations I just picked up the motor yesterday and not planning on rigging it up yet but wanted to find a prop for it sooner than later.

I could turn a 3 blade 19 at about 5800 rpm tops and 52 mph light. thats fast for a 24 degree deep V 40+ years old. My ox66 was tired with one cyl at 94 psi and the others at 110 to 115 psi. It always started and ran great tho?
I think you should stay with a 19 or 17. I have a 19 SWS prop on my 25. I have not tried it yet since i just repowered but thats what was recommendd as a starting point. BLY, what the top rpms for a 250ox66, i thought it was 5500.
Ok, I'll keep my eyes open for a 19P. What diameter are you guys running? If I find a Mercury set up can I use it on the yamaha with a different hub? Sorry, still learning here...
What is the application? Let's hear what boat you have, how it performs now and what you want out of it. There is a lot more to choosing a prop than just pitch and the number of blades.
To answer your question about the interchangeability of the Mercury and Yamaha props, yes, a Mercury prop (or hub kit) will work on your Yamaha but you should use the thrust washer you have now (or the thrust washer in a hub kit made for Yamaha).

Well the boat is new to me and I have never had it in the water. I bought it as a project so I'm basically starting from a clean slate. It's an 81 Formula 233 Sportsman Cuddy. It has a flotation bracket and I just picked up a 2000 Yamaha 250 ox66 for it. Not sure of exact weight yet. I will be fishing it 20-30 miles out of the gulf outside Panama City and probably the usual load, 2-3 guys, tackle, cooler, etc. It has a 100 gallon tank and the boat will be used for pleasure and fishing. I dont need the fastest boat out there, just looking for something comfortable and enjoyable to have some fun in.
Ah. Unless you think that boat can do 53 MPH with that motor there is no way you're going to be able to turn a 21" MIRAGEplus.
A boat that size with that power in those conditions will do well with the MIRAGEplus but probably better with the Revolution 4. If the boat is actually as fast as 50 MPH then the Tempest Plus should be considered as well.
Remember, engine speed with a Revolution 4 will be 200-300 RPM less than a MIRAGEplus of the same pitch. A Tempest Plus will be 200-250 RPM more than that MIRAGEplus.
Deepblue, I'm not sure if it's LH or not. I bought it for my 2486 Triton with a single 225 yamaha 4 stroke which would not turn the RPMs I needed with the 19.
I have a formula 233 and before I decided to rebuild it I had a 2001 yamaha ox 66 on it and I used to spin a 21p SWSII prop. One time I was heavily loaded with 9 good sized people and loads of luggage, it took awhile to get on plane (about 30 to 45 seconds) but it did and I was able to run about 38 mph in 4 to 6 ft seas. This was also with one cylinder tired.
You probably had a tired cylinder because you were lugging the motor by over-propping it.
The Yamaha 250 OX66 had a 1.86:1 gear ratio and a 5500 RPM redline. For that motor to hit 5500 RPM with a 21" MIRAGEplus it has to be going about 53 MPH.
tangent70 -- How fast was your boat at WOT? How many RPM at 38 MPH?

Best I ever got was 52mph. During the trip I mentioned previously I was turning 4800 rpm.
I could regularly get 46 - 48 mph loaded. turning about 5000 rpm
I have a 21P Mirage Plus left hand, actually have a counter rotating pair but will seperate if the left sells first, great shape, run for a little over a season
