I'm upgrading to a cobia tower so this one needs to go. This is the original albemarle hardtop. It is is in great condition, both the top and the framing. This also comes with a 3 sided enclosure. This will fit early 24 albemarles and possible 23 formulas. Asking $1500 obo and local pick up in RIchmond, Va. If interested, Email trnsmaster@comcast.net
Looks like you are totally refitting that boat. What year is it? I had a 24 Albe for quite a few years. Still have some new parts if you might need any. I have one of the rear bilge vents that is at both rear sides. From a 79-83, these are the short wider ones before they switched to the longer more narrow vent. Not sure if you still have the I/O but I have one of the water intake hoses, that is the long hose that came from the transom and went under and to the side of the motor up to the front of the water pump. Brand new. This was for the Volvo obviously. When I bought it back around '90 I paid 100.00 for it then. I've also got a brand new OEM Tach that came standard on Albemarles. It is the Teleflex gauge that was in the center of the instrument panel.
If you need them let me know I will sell them reasonably. I'm in Richmond Too.
By the way, If you can get the word out locally on the top I'm sure you can sell it.
Tailwalker,Thanks for the offer. I may keep you in mind as i get closer to completion. So far i'm in the middle of completely replacing all the stringers.
I believe this hardtop was used from the 70's through the 90's.
No problem. Good luck with the project. They are great boats. The stringers in that hull are massive. That is probably quite a job. That top was used up to the early 90's I believe.
How do the curtains attach and I suppose they snap to the windshield? Are they clear and can you see through them or are the designed to be used while moored? How much head room is there underneath the top? I'm 6'2", do you think I could stand up and not have to duck? I'm curious if it will fit my 81 233... that top is fiberglass right?
Yes the curtains are clear and snap onto the windshield used to block the spray and keep you warm and dry. I am 6 ft and have no problem under the top. I'll double check how much clearance i have this weekend while working on the boat. I believe the gunnels on both the albes and formulas were the same height as well.
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the windshield side glass is longer and a different angle on a 233 than on the Albe. The top would probably work, but I don't know about the curtains.
I know my glass is different as mine doesnt hinge open. I'd love to replace everything on mine and use your glass as well that way everything should work. I just wish you were closer so we could check it out.
I know for a fact that top will fit a Formula 233 as I had a buddy that put the Albe top on his Formula. Worst case you may have to have a small extension made for the center bracket on the front windshield in case the height is a little off but it would not be much. As stated, not sure about the enclosure.
I'd love to get both the windshield and top from you but it's a little out of my price range and I'd have to figure out how to get it to ATL. Does the top have rod holders on the back side like I've seen on a few other Albe hard tops?
For those that are interested, I just looked and the front support that attaches to the windshield is thru bolted, not welded. SO, someone with a different style boat/windshield could use the top without the front support bar if they wanted. THis bar unbolts from the main tubing of the hardtop and from the windshield.
windshield top and curtains $2000 if you need it all gonna go palm beach style with just a wave stop to mount the electronics into and let the esinglass meet it.
