I'm looking for a good HOG rifle for hunting. I'm on a tight budget so looking for used. A rifle with a scope is a good plus. Please let me know what you have and i'm in SW Florida.
Always had luck with a 22 rifle right between the eyes here in south georgia, no need to go get an expensive rifle when you are going to be in the thickwoods walking around in the mud

Well, I don't I have enough confidence in myself to hit between the eyes.
I've always hunted with a shotgun since I'm from Massachusetts and you can't use a rifle for deer hunting.
When I lived in Louisiana for a year I almost got taken out by a HOG. I was taking a pee and looked over to my right and about 25 yards I saw a big Hog walking toward me. He didn't know I was in front of him. Before I could pick my gun back up be got wind of me and charged. I did a quick ZIP and was able to pull the trigger and scare him off but I did have to check my shorts!

Thanks Doug. I already have a Slug Gun but appreciate the offer.
what do you consider cheap? i have a Savage 300 that should do the trick. all u have to do is hit them, it will put them down. I bought it to go to Alaska for moose and bear but never went.
If ya don't mind a single shot how about a NEF (New England Firearms) Handi rifle in a 45-70. You can get em new for around $350 and used in the $250 range. From all I have read they are very accurate right out of the box.
Go to the H&R website and look around. Just a thought.

I agree with cannon, a Marlin 30-30 lever action with elevated sights (probably has a real name but you can still see the blade sight underneath the scope) is what I have used for many years. Aquick search put a new one a t $550, I'm sure a pawn shop will have one of r $300 or less.

If I were looking to shoot hogs, the only two guns I'd consider would be the Winchester or Marlin 30-30 or the Marlin .444
The 444 is one bad mofo and you shold be able to pick up a used one for your budget.
Of course there all lever action.
A .22 is probably the stupidest suggestion for hogs I've ever heard. I can promise if you come between a big sow and her piglets the last thing you want is freakin 22. It's not fair to the hog and plain dangerous for you.
