Default T Top Canvas

Just wanted to post a thanks to Bob @ G2 Outfitters. These guys are fast! Great communication the whole time. I mailed my old top with the order form on Tuesday and got the new top Monday, 6 days later! Looks great, Weblon white top and Driftwood (gray) underneath. I'll post some pics when it gets installed

Bob I'm going to need a top this season. Looking at the Weblon material. Wanting white on top and black underneath with black polyester string. I've filled out the T Top worksheet just PM me with what all I need to do on getting you the top, payment, cost etc. Probobly looking at doing a wire sleeve between the material as well for the spreader lights.
You did a top for a friend of mine with a cape horn. He said he picked the Weblon HD herculine material or something along those lines. I really like that material and I'm leaning towards that if you have it available.

HI Guys,
Mike, looking forward to the pictures..Thanks
Things have been going pretty well overall with this offering. Like any other business, we have the occasional setback... This is working well enough that we've decided to stop developing other offerings and to stick with what we're doing.
Weblon HD: No longer available. This was a one time deal that I was able to get my hands on.. It was a one time run, over run that was available.

Weblon two tone availability, white on top, bottom color :
Driftwood

Mist Blue

Seafoam

Here's how to order...http://www.g2outfitters.com/how-to-order.html

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This is the process we use
------------------------------------------------
Pictures of the top make things go smoothly. There are rare circumstances that we can't do a specific type of top by mail.
Please don't drop something in the mail with a note to "Call me". Haven't had one of those work out yet.

Thanks!

I highly recommend using Bob and crew if you are looking for a new top! Very pleasant to work with and the turnaround time was very fast! I was able to lace mine without help and it fit perfect and looks great, it was an exact match from the old top! Thanks for the great product and friendly customer service!

Remnant, and shop partial closure for a spring time get away...

If anyone wants a SeaMark top in black -and- their top is 80x60 or smaller, I have a piece left from a job that we can do this with. Normal upgrade price, $75. This piece, $25 for the upgrade.
Seamark is Sunbrella laminated with vinyl. Completely waterproof.
Specs:
https://www.trivantage.com/Fabric/Fa...+Yards+727100+

Shop will be at reduced capacity from May 1 until the 8th or so. There will be people in and out, but expect deliveries to be limited during this time frame.

Thanks!

I purchased a new top only eight (8) months ago and the rings have already begun to rust. Hardware is junk. Very disappointed!!! I honestly loved the material...installed myself. However, rings should not be this corroded after less than a year.

Hi
Sorry you're not happy with your grommets. We only use nickel plated brass grommets from Stimpson. The only finishes available on these grommets is nickel plate, and a dull black chemical finish. I just took this picture of my boat which sits on a lift on a salt water canal in Florida. These grommets are about a year old. There is nothing cheap about these grommets. We don't use "junk" in anything we do.

Harsh cleaners like mildew removers have oxidizers that will mar the surface of many metals.
Here's the warning label on the back of a mildew remover.

I will contact the supplier on Monday and see if there's anything that we can do.

I have only used boat soap on the t-top, per your recommendation. Call them what you want. They should not be in this poor condition.

They can and will be if not rinsed completely of soap residue. As you can see with mine, which came from the same supplier (same part number and, likely same lot) the shine is still there after a year.

None of the manufacturers warranty the plating of their grommets. None. It's considered decorative, not structural. Although you're not happy with the appearance, you should not worry about the integrity of the brass.

The nickel plated brass grommet is, by an extreme margin, (verified by the manufacturer, and what we see coming in to the shop for replacement) the go to grommet for T-top canvas. I can say comfortably that 95% + of the tops that come in for replacement are of this type of grommet. The remaining 5% are a mix of zinc, stainless or sheet metal steel. We only use the rolled rim, claw variety. These are the most expensive in this class.

Stimpson, the supplier, makes these here in the USA. We're pleased to offer Made in the USA components. The other major suppliers are from Asia.

Stainless is an option, but not without some draw backs. In order for stainless to be soft enough to "seat" it looses some of it's stainless qualities. Stainless will oxidize as well. This shows up in the form of a flat grey finish to tea colored staining called "tea staining"
link: https://stainlesssteelwireandmesh.wo...iscolouration/

Stainless also costs 50% more on the supply side per unit, so it does add to the costs of the end product. When considering brass does everything perfectly fine in this application, there's little point in using stainless. I can count on one hand the number of tops that came in for replacement that had stainless grommets, and this is out of hundreds of tops from individuals, boat yards, and government agencies.

I'm sorry you're disappointed, and I understand your frustration. After using thousands and thousands of these, this is the first complaint I've had about these grommets. They are not "junk" as you claim. We buy them 7,200 at a time. The only issue we've had with these grommets is that in 3 cases, a grommet failed in the seating process, and either during shipment on installation the grommet came apart.
