OK...for those of you who havent been following this, heres the break down. The SEDAR report which is completely flawed and inaccurate (based on independent scientist findings and the current state of the red snapper stock as visualized by fisherman in the east atlantic ocean). Now, the Magnusen Stevens act has pushed to stop overfishing of red snapper. According to the SEDAR report snapper is overfished. Who do you think is responsibel for the SEDAR report?? that right PEW !!! you don't believe me...read this email...it was initaited form Dr. Devincentis, who is an avid fisherman and on our side, sent to felicia coleman who is a PEW fellow out of FSU:

HERE IS FELICIA COLEMANS RESPONSE:

Dear Dr. DeVincentis-

Thanks so much for your interest in our work on reef fish. Often the research that comes out of our lab is used in the SEDAR reports, as is the work of many other scientists. I'm going to forward your email to Chris Koenig and perhaps he can direct you in some ways that you might be able to help.

Sincerely yours,
this is all an attempt by PEW to shut down the oceans to save the sea kittens based on flawed data !!

I am repowering my WA that currently has a Seadrive (Lucky me!). I am going to replace it with a new f-150 and a bracket with a swim step/platform. Armstrong will make one as wide as my transom. We do a lot of freediving and I would also use it for mounting a small removalable bait tank. This big platform sounds like a nice useful addition to my small boat.

Are there any downsides to having a big platform off of the stern

I am looking to buy a used trailerable 23-27 feet walkaround (for outboard) with enclosed head. The boat will be used for fishing halibut in northern Norway and salmon in the Baltic sea, so seaworthyness is important

The boats total weight must not exceed 6000lbs. Price up to 20 000$ (without engine(s))

I am not very familar with american boats and would be grateful for any tip of which models to look for, and which to avoid.

Last week I was returning to port at 3/4 to WFO when I heard a loud "bang" and thought something hit my motor cowling. I entered the no wake zone soon after and idled to the dock without any problems.

This morning I put the boat in the water, she started up no problem, idled like always and then cruised through the no wake zone without any problems. Once I put the hammer down to get up on plane is when I experienced my problems.

The motor didn't get the boat on plane and then started sputtering, lost power and almost died. I put it in neutral and it idled fine so I tried it again and the motor sputtered and then died. Each time I could start it up and let it idle without a problem. I was able to make it back to the dock at idle speed without any problem.

I thought it might be fouled plugs due to the amount of trolling I had done the week before so I changed the plugs. The plugs that were removed were all consistant with each other (black but not gooped up with oil, remember this is a 2 stroke).

I changed the plugs, splashed the boat again, she started without any issues, idled like before and did the exact same thing.

Please help.

John and Ralph were happy to take me out for a boat ride today.....Trip Yamaha 350's with secret props and around 200-250 gallons of fuel, full Eisenglass, large console and top, 2nd station, outriggers, tons of electronics including A/C, Xbox360, TV...cruised at around 45 mph at 35 gph. Easily hit 68mph and 69.9mph downwind.

Pretty quick for a 40ft boat. Pics and video to follow when i get home.

For those of you who wish to make comments regarding the SAMFC's proposed closures for Red Snapper and Grouper please use the links below. This is a very simple process and we need your help.

The SAFMC needs to hear from you. They are requesting public comments on proposed measures that would shut down the South Atlantic to bottom fishing for 25 35 years.

GO TO http://safmc.deep-blue-sea.org and submit your comments into the public record.

NOAA is seeking public comment on this. Unless there is a large outpouring of dissent from the public, this fishery will be closed. The closure is based on fatally flawed science and grossly inadequate economic impact studies.

What can you do? Go to http://safmc.deep-blue-sea.org and tell the NOAA, Congress, and the Governor what you think. You can enter your comments in one place, and they will be forwarded to all the public officials and entered as an official comment. It will take less than 5 minutes, and may help get Congress understand we have a broken fisheries management system.

Whats Next?
A bill has been introduced in the US House to amend the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act to extend the authorized time period for rebuilding of certain overfished fisheries, and for other purposes. http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111-1584
A bill has been introduced to direct the Secretary of Commerce to conduct a study of the population of the South Atlantic red snapper fishery, and to limit the authority of the Secretary to promulgate any interim rule that prohibits fishing in the South Atlantic red snapper fishery.
