What is the actual dimensional difference?

The dimensions are the same between the two except for the headrest portion. The Longneck has an 8 inch extension of the headrest. The base, zipper, footprint, width, etc are all the same. The Medium Teardrop is what I think you are refering to as the "short neck", itwill accomodate passengers comfortably up to about 5' 10". For persons taller than 5'10" I would definatly recommend the Longneck.

Yep, I'm 6'1, 200 or so. have been on the teardrops, wedges but bought the medium longnecks and love em'. I should have bought the large. I like being totally surrounded by the bag. Brings me back to my days in the 60's. Anyway, if you have the room, buy the large.

Good news I love it!!!

Bad news I need a few more as the family is fighting over who's gonna get it for the ride out & back It is actually part of our living room furniture now
