I bought a new Nissan Murano for my daughter this weekend. I went thru the normal negotiations and shopping and negotiated a lower end model with a sunroof and a changeout of the cloth to new leather. I pickup the car with my daughter yeaterday and when riding home we noticed there was 500 miles on the car. Now i was aware they did not have the car in stocjk and needed to locate the car in the desired color and changeout the seats, that took 3 days. No problem, they gave us a loaner and all was well. When I talked the saleswoman and then the sales manager they stated that they had to dirve the car from the dealer with a swap car ( I would assume they would bring a flat bed and pick up the car). I questioned if the dealer was 500 miles away and they said they would check and get back to me. I have not heard from them since. Am I being anal or do i have a right to be aggravated, I paid cash for the car with a $500. deposit on my credit card, so that is my only leverage at this point. What would you do?
Second, 500 miles is 500 miles.. That is 500 miles you DON'T HAVE left on YOUR warranty...
Just my .02, but I would ask for an additional warranty or something to keep ya happy..

Look on your contract if the mileage says 500 when sold then your warranty issues are covered i had the same problem when i leased a ford explorer i just made sure the 200 miles that was on the truck was documented in writing so i wouldn't get any charges if the truck was 200 miles over the limit you should be fine

If the 500 miles is noted on your contract then your new car warrenty starts at 500 and ends at XX,XXX + 500 miles. You start your INSERVICE at 500 miles. So warrenty is not an issue.

I work for a new car dealer this happens all the time ( I am not a salesman). the warrenty starts when you take the car unless its a demo but then you should get some bucks off but with only 500 mile I don't think it was a demo .
not uncommon at all, last new truck my dad bought was handled this way. Very common practice is to find a dealer who has a vehicle that the dealership you are dealing with needs, who also needs something that your dealership has. This way they can have drivers meet in the middle, or have one driver take care of the swap on their own. This is much less expensive that having to put a truck & trailer in the road.
I bought a new car a few months ago with the same situation. The only exact model/color combo I wanted was 250 miles away. The dealer had one of his guys drive up with a rental car, then drive my car back. I didn't like starting with 250 already on the odometer, but I do understand that a flat-bed pick up would have cost the dealer a lot more money out of pocket. And the warranty starts after the 250 milles so I'm not worried.
And after 12,000 miles on it already -- I don't even remember what it was like having only 250 on the odometer.
You probably got a salesman's demo model. I used to work a new car lot when I was in college. We wouldnt drive more than 2 hours to get a special order.

I bought a new chevy cargo van in 1985 and it too had to be located, it was driven from SC to NC and had 250 miles on the odometer when they delivered it to my shop. I then kept it til 1994 and sold it with 260,000 miles on it (didn't get much $) -- Not a big deal in my opinion, 500 less miles you have to take it easy.
In 1984 I bought an Olds Cutlass with 4300 miles on it. The "standard" warranty was 12 months/12K miles back then. They gave me documentation - without my even asking - that the warranty was effective until 12 months after the purchase date or 16,400 miles WOF.
