Default SOCCER SUX!!!!!!!!!!

I have no clue what this crap is on tv but I was at Hooters yesterday for lunch and a bunch of NON AMERICANS were watching this crap on the big tv. We got the staff to change it to the College World Series Super Regional to watch our beloved Tigers come from behind to defeat ORU.

Then again today I was in a Dick's sporting goods and that had the same crap on. There was some guy standing there watching and when a couple of us made "sharp" comments about this they turned the tv's to the CWSSR again.

Why do these people think we really give a SHI$ about this rag head game, nobody in the USA cares about it other than little kids.

I am the only one "on the rag" about this crap.

Sorry you had to be exposed to such an attrocious, world-championship sporting event. Believe it or not, there are other countries in this world. And to the vast majority of them, the World Cup is a REALLY big deal. But if you must be provincial, check out the USA team sometime. They're pretty dang good and they've actually got a shot at winning the Cup.

WOW! I'm not a soccer fan either, but at least I'm not a complete raging bigot.

Yes, you are on the rag and sound like an crotchety old lady...

That crap is watched by the entire world, including a lot of AMERICANS and is a helluva lot bigger than the almighty NFL. Yes, I admit it - the NFL pretty much sucks.. I haven't watched much football since the 80's..

Now, I don't watch soccer either, but I'd be willing to bet that the American NFL fans are as much if not more obnoxious than those "NON-AMERICAN" soccer fans..

Actually, I'd say your actions proved that... Way to go!

It's the second most physically demanding sport in the world. Anybody like to venture to guess the first?

I never saw a live soccer game until my kids started playing. Now the're done and it's OK. Live games are pretty cool.

IT STILL SUX

And no it is NOT AN AMERICAN sport as much as the media tries to tell us it is.

Besides look at the rest of the World, they depend on us to tell them how to do everything else and bail their butts out of trouble all the time and these are the kind of people that watch this game

You will never convince a SOUTHERN man that this is a "real"game.

Most demanding sport (ha ha ) look at motocross and bull riding

Welder, I completely agree...

Interestingly, I was a swimmer - in fact the breaststroke was one stroke I competed in, but I personally think the butterfly was actually harder. I was also a runner - 440, 200 and mile relay. Best time was 49.6 seconds on the 440 - that's fast, but I was not the fastest by any stretch!

I played soccer when I was teen (center and right forward) and that is one demanding sport. 90 minutes of nonstop running.... No huddles, no breaks, no pads and no mercy..

Now Rugby is one sport I dabbled in and said, "nope, not for me!" - you talk about rough!

Don't forget stump pulling .It's an extreme sport and only super human's can walk away from a stump match.

Chris , sorry was just having fun, in all seriousness my niece Stephanie Gabert [ just put her name in a search] should be in the next Olympics she is a swimmer.

Swimming, the total body workout.

Total workout - tell me about it... Back then, I typically swam 2-3 times per day 5 days a week for a total of 5-8 MILES a day.

For track, we averaged 20-40 miles per week..

I know you had a bit of sarcasm, but tell me that ain't tough..

Rugby really is one tough-as-nails sport..

I googled Stephanie Gabert, she's fast! I used to live in Corona Del Mar for while too.. I did some diving out there too! Cheer her on, competition is tough at that level..

Chris, I also learned to dive in orange county , took it for P.E. junior and senior years in HS [ El Toro high ] Dive master was Brian miller. We would dive Laguna, new port , san clemente and catalina . basic one year then inter. the next.
Man you don't want to do a deep dive at Catalina in november, the only good thing was unlimited visibility.

Welder - Get outta town!

I lived in Laguna Beach back in the late 70's and early 80's - this was just after my parents divorce, which is also why I wasn't in Texas at that time. I went to El Morro Elementary down PCH for a few years and then moved back to TX in 84. Laguna was a great little town then, about 8500 people and I knew about 7k of them - I was one of the local Daily Pilot paperboys and delivered to the Fire Department and the southern half of downtown. I am sure it has changed A LOT now, I hear it is a little.. well... you know what I mean..

There was a great Hawaiian rib place there, I think it was called the "Royal Hawaiian" awesome ribs..

If you have been around there much, I lived on the top of 3rd street. 3rd St is the one that had the super steep hill - I actually did a google search and found this.. http://www.pbase.com/honda/3rdstr

I remember a lot of cars could not make it up the hill, some would only peel out and if it rained... Well, 'nuff said.. Looks like it has been resurfaced and grated for traction.

One time my teacher followed me down the hill ( I didn't know) and he clocked/paced me at OVER 60MPH and I was on a bicycle.. I was a bit of daredevil until I hit a moron jogger at the bottom of the hill. He ended up being the OWNER of pioneer chicken. I messed him pretty bad - broken arm, hip, ribs, leg etc.. I only had a little bump on my head from when I flipped in the air and caught the ground in my airborne somersault. It was his fault, I had lights and bright clothing and was making noise - he just didn't hear a car and crossed without looking..

In all, I lived in Corona Del Mar, Dana Point and Laguna Beach. I surfed all those areas religiously and after I got my license, you could find me down at San Onofre when the swells kicked up over 6-8 feet.

Anyways, sorry to derail... Back on topic..

US Soccer rocks this year. Quite a feat considering the US has only had feeder teams for like the last 15 years. I really like to watch those lesbie girls on the US team !!! - now that is a sport worthy of Hooters.

We had a soccer team in our High school 40 (it was an interscholastic sport even in the 50's in CT) years ago and it was a very demanding and competitive game even then , but used basically for baseball and basketball players to stay in shape during "off" season. Things have changed!!

Good thing though there are TV off switches and other restaurants....

God Bless America

First of all I am an American and love the world cup. It is sport in it's purest form. I get 45 minutes of uninterrupted action without the TV timeouts and boredom of waiting between innings, timeouts etc. Don't get me wrong I have season tickets to the Yankees and love basketball and football, but the games have become such a business and the unnecessary delays in the game are painful, especially football live, the momentum is destroyed by the timeouts. Whatever floats your boat but being involved in the sport with my kids ( colleg now) and understanding and appreciating the game I thing it is great and wish they would change the format to every 2 years instead of 4.

I agree with tprice, I have tried many times to watch soccer and it is such a boring sport. But, to each his own, some people in this world think FISHING is boring, can you believe that one?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
