Including renting a beach condo. Anyone here have any experience with this??
Daddy'O and I are headin' to Pensacola Beach in July and are going to rent a condo (for the first time!) and we are just wondering if there are things we need to ask, be wary of, etc...?
The Misses and I have rented homes for a few vacations. The thing I always like to ask is, is everything working normally? You know things like do all the windows work or is one just about falling off and therefore we shouldn't touch it.........corky things like that.
- Is there a spare key? If so, where is it hiding?
- Emergency phone numbers, if anything should go wrong, who do you call?
- What do you do with the garbage?
- Is the refrig and cupboards filled? Do you have to replace what you use, or are they included?
- Is there anything you should know about the neighbors?
Then I like to ask about the area, what in the area is a must see, where are the best places to eat or drink, where can you buy food or gas or get your scuba tanks filled....you know the basic stuff.
If the place doesn’t smell and the beds are comfortable go for it. Just get adjoining rooms if you take the boys. Wink, Wink,
If it’s a good vacation the only time your in there is to poop, shower and sleep.

Haven't tried to rent a condo since hurricane Ivan broke the place up. My family rented condos in Pennsacola area for years. The best in our opinion wereThe Santa Rosa Dunes, definitely not the cheapest. They are on thesound side of the island, but very clean and equipped very well. Second choice would be The Emerald Isles (not sure about the name, but it started with an E), on the gulf beach, little bit cheaper than the dunes, condos were smaller and older.
Look on the web for JME Realty, we rented through them year after year, never disappointed.

My wife and I watched a guy and his son flip plugs into the surf no more than 20 feet from the water line, and catch a fish for every cast for over thirty minutes. Nothing fancy, just spinning gear. The fish weren't table fare but the action was fast and furious. They've come along way out there since the storm.
GOT R' DUN~!!!! Booked the condo yest. and we're all set. And yes, the linens are included BUT the lady told us to bring extra (which we will). Also to bring extra paper goods. Check ~
Only other things to pack will be swim suits, sunscreen, shades and a cooler
Oh, MAN~!!!!! I'm SO EXCITED!!!!! ...........Now, PLEASE, LORD - don't let a hurricane form until AFTER July 16~ please~ Amen.
