As a human being that has free will and autonomy I eat when I'm hungry.

The powers of modern technology have made this possible.

6:00-7:30 for me my whole life. Only later on the weekends or when I am too busy to sit down for dinner. I try not to have dinner any later. I have always heard that it is not good to eat after 8:00. I get off at 3:00 and am in bed by 10:00. I wake up at 4:45 when I have to work. So eating later than 8:00 doesent make sense to me.

Trying to wrap my head around how anyone can orchestrate eating before 5:00. I'm assuming either retired or wife does all the cooking and stays at home?

Usually 7:00 (ish)
I roll in between 6:30 and 7:00, eat, and then do whatever I'm going to do in the evening. Some change based on season and daylight.

Starts with breakfast. 7am, lunch at 11, supper at 5-6. Depends on the kids though. If they want snacks at 430 we eat dinner a bit earlier (trying to get 3 little girls to eat anything can be a challenge). My inlaws seem to think dinner time on sunday is 3pm ? wtf, you skip a meal and eat again before bed?

Eating early makes me hungry again before bed. I don't have to eat late, but early isn't appropriate either.

I feel your pain, wife grew up with a Step-dad that worked 3rd shift, they eat 4:30 5:00, it has taken 19 years, she has finally accepted to leave a plate on the bar (or not, I do not demand a plate be left for me) I eat when I come in from the yard or barn. Winter it may be 6:00 during the summer 8 or 9 for me, especially on the weekends. I like to eat around dark. She still hates it to this day that we do not eat together. I cant walk in from work at 5:30 and sit down to supper 2 minutes later. I am the black sheep of her family, they leave at 3:00 on Saturday afternoons to celebrate whoever's birthday supper. Her family calls me silent and absent for not attending these functions. When we have her family over I cook for them they grumble moan and complain about it not being ready until 6:00 or 6:30 and I'm thinking I got it ready 2 hours early on a weekend, you should be grateful.

I came from a traditional Italian family - grandparents born in Italy. Sunday dinner was always at 4 pm. If you ate enough at Sunday diner, which was a two hour feast, including deserts, you were full right through time to go to bed.

Growing up, dinner was at 6pm exactly, if your late, mom and dad let you know, and not in a good way.

For me now, it can be anywhere between 5-7'ish. Mostly 5 because I get up at 0430 for work so my breakfast is 0700 and lunch at 1130, by the time 5 hits I am starting to either hangry or snack on something else. That and coaching my kids baseball team practice is 6-7 in the evenings.

Usually a big meal Sunday afternoon. No need to eat again later.

It depends on your schedule. I am usually awake by 5:00am and asleep by 10:00 or 10:30pm.

Dinner at 5:30 to 6:30 works for me. Waiting until 8:00 or later is not an option.

OTOH, if you don't even think about sleep until about midnight, then 8:00 or later will work.
