Default Toyota Tundra Wheel Balance Problems

Anyone else having problems keeping their tires balanced on 4x4 TRD Tundra. Someone mentioned that the TRD edition rims were having issues with tire slippage on the rims. My dealer says he knows nothing about any issues. It's a 2005.

Well if you feel there is an issue with tire slippage then I'd get out some of your nail polish and put a slight dab on the wheel (rim) directly across from a defined marking on the tire, after I just had the tires/wheels balanced. Then I would write down this marking on paper or better yet would be to take a picture.

Drue - I own 11 of them (6 2004 and 5 2005) and have not had any issue with tire balancing.

Two thoughts have come to mind.
One - are these the factory tires? I recall putting four General's on my Nissan King Cab, they were one size up from stock, stock size was 10.5 x 32 x 15 (I think that's what they were). I too was having a serious balancing problem. Either way the regional factory rep changed out five tires before he eventually refunded my money.
Two - Quite possibly with removing the tire from the wheel should show bermishing of the wheel at the bead area. But without a doubt if you were to remove a wheel from the vehicle and deflate the tire you should be able to unseat the bead from the wheel.

They are not the original tires. I put BF Goodrich A/T's on the truck when I purchased it.(friend in the tire business). Couldn't get these balanced for longer than a day at a time. I now have Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo's. These will balance for a longer time, but I can notice a difference after a few weeks. The three dealers and my friend said that you need a special machine to balance Toyota wheels. Supposedly all of them have the latest and greatest machines.

I googled my problem and wound up on toyotanation.com. There seems to others that have my same problem. None of them have been fixed. They have changed drive shafts, brake rotors and other stuff, but none have mentioned tire slippage on that site. I found the TRD rim issues on another site, which I can't seem to find now.

I am bringing it back to the dealer tomorrow for balancing and I'll mark the rims. One dealer mentioned that they were aware of a bad batch of rims but he's not working there anymore(Hurricane Katrina victim moved out of state). Everyone else has the Ollie North disease and can't seem to remeber.

I should have said similar problems. I am fairly certain that my problems are tire/rim related, because they get better when balanced. But the roar and vibration returns soon afterwards.

That sounds exactly like the problem I was having with the Generals....to bad to cause I just loved the tires.
Oh I should have said, "But without a doubt if you were to remove a wheel from the vehicle and deflate the tire you should be able to unseat the bead from the wheel" BY HAND.

There's a "Tundra Solutions Forum" on the web. You'll get a good response there.

I was about to post the link (I own two Toyotas) but some webmasters don't like direct linke to other sites. I guess if it stays, it's OK with the webmaster.
