Leave it to a woman (L J sent this to me) to think of something as simple as this........

Paramedics will turn to a victim's cell phone for clues to that person's identity. You can make their job much easier with a simple idea that they are trying to get everyone to adopt: ICE.

ICE stands for In Case of Emergency. If you add an entry in the contacts list in your cell phone under ICE, with the name and phone no. of the person that the emergency services should call on your behalf, you can save them a lot of time and have your loved ones contacted quickly. It only takes a few moments of your time to do.

Paramedics know what ICE means and they look for it immediately.

ICE your cell phone NOW!

Seems simple enough, nothing to loose................................

Interesting idea, but why put something cryptic in the phone? Do you have a cell phone? Do you have an entry for "home"? 99.6% of all phones have home saved. Chances are it is one of the last 5 numbers called too.

actually, i was thinking about this very same issue wednesday night.....there was a bad accident near the softball park right before my game. 5 people in a minivan - at least 2 fatalities. they flew in 2 helicopters to land them on the field, and as we were watching i was wondering how they contact people when something like this happens.......as common as cell phones are, they are probably utilized quite often to try and contact friends/family.

for any police/paramedics here, what is the routine?

In my situation the ICE idea would work better than the HOME number because Lori is usually not at home during the day but will have her cell phone with her.
