Default Home and business burglar alarm systems?

I have been asked to check into getting an alarm for our office in Goldsboro, NC. I have also been considering one for the home.

Any reccomendations? There are several in our yellow pages but I wanted to check if any of them have good or not so good reccomendations since many seem to be franchises or nationwide companies.

Don't know if they serve your area but I have CPI at home and have been extremely pleased with their whole operation...installation, response, service, the whole deal....

Scott

I have used both Carolina Phone & Alarm and Hometown Security in Goldsboro. They both use the same GE equipment with Hometown being a little less on both equipment and installation price.

The other item beyond price is that Hometown uses a monitoring service from Charlotte whereas Carolina's monitoring is based in New York. Don't know if it makes a difference but I just feel better about the monitoring being in my own state, even though it is Charlotte.

You might want to consider getting a service and not just a system. They will design and install the system which you will own. The system*will be*monitorred by a phone link. If there's a problem they will notify the appropriate people. Very handy if the facility is unoccupied over night or on the weekends.

These companies advertise in the Yellow Pages. You can also look for their decals on other local businesses as you take care of your chores and errands. This will give you a chance to ask if other customers are satisfied with the security company.

Good luck!

First of all, don't bother if it's a local alarm with an outside bell.....no one pays attenditon to these. It should be monitored 24 hours a day by a reputable central station.

Next thing to check is how the alarm is transmitted. Assuming phone wires are used, if the phone wire is cut (outside of the building) does the monitoring company investigate? Best bet is to use cell phone technology. Some companies use this.

We have ADT for our security system. Monitors break-ins and fire. Costs about $25.00/month and is well worth it.

We also intalled video cameras which are quite visible as you drive up our driveway.

What's this world coming to??????
