Default scam? pop yachts international

im selling my boat. i have it listed on several different fishin forums, ebay. and craigslist. i get an email from a guy that wants to list it with his brokerage. they ad a 10% fee on top of my listing price. im asking 35k so they'd tack on an additional 10% which is their fee. these are the emails from him as well as the listing agreement. is this crap legit? anything to worry about?

Hey Nate,

We add 10% on top of the price you have it listed at. There is no out of pocket fees upfront, or ever.

We are licensed yacht brokers in Florida and have a local sales representative in your area. Im going to send you some more information about us as well as our CMA, Central Marketing Agreement, which just states you give us permission to market your boat for you. Notice the price reflected nets your asking price of $35000 to include our 10% selling fee on top.

This simple agreement says that we only get paid if we bring you a buyer. There are no strings or extra fees attached and you can continue to sell on your own. If you find a buyer you owe us nothing. Lets have a race to see who sells your boat first!

To accept, just open the Central Marketing Agreement attachment, make sure everything looks ok, and then click the Accept button in the document. I'll be available for any questions you may have. Thanks Nate and Ill look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best Regards,

POP Yachts International

Hello Nate,

Our POP Yachts marketing program is very straight-forward. We simply would like your permission to market your vessel world-wide and attempt to quickly bring you a buyer.

POP Yachts is not like a traditional brokerage:

1.) You may continue to market the vessel on your own. If you sell it on your own, you owe us nothing.

2.) We do not lock you into any 6-month or 1-year agreement. You may cancel at ANY time by sending us an email and we will pull down our advertising within 5 days. Again, nothing owed to us!

3.) You tell us realistically what you want to net in your pocket and we will build our fee on top of that. It is really that simple.

4.) We incur all the cost to market your vessel on more than 160+ MLS websites - world-wide.

We are an additional resource for you to sell your vessel. We incur all the risk, cost, time, and effort to bring you a buyer. When we do, we all win. If we do not, you have lost absolutely nothing.

Please click the link below to give POP permission to market your vessel:

Accept Agreement Online

POP stands for Paid on Performance. We only get paid if we do our job and bring you a buyer!

this is the agreement.......

Pop Yachts is legit. I can tell you from personal experience after accessing their site they are tenacious. I received several e-mails (all very friendly) offering to answer any questions about the boat I was looking at or offering to help find me the right boat. Those guys work for their money. I would try Angler's Edge first.

Not a scam. But flaky and pushy. They rubbed me the wrong way when I inquired about a boat I later found for cheaper. The emails never stop..

Bob at Anglers Edge is worth the money though.

Yes they are very pushy and apparently can not read, I have my boat advertised right now, with big words in the ads, no brokers please. These assholes call me every week wanting to list it.

While legit, I don't like their business model in this approach. Let someone else do all the legwork on the ad, then they list it for 10% over your asking price. I wonder if they bring you all offers, and if one is less than the sell price + 10%, if they take the hit on the commission or you are expected to eat the difference.
Use Bob Filger at Anger's Edge Marine.

I pass on every POP ad I see. They are annoying. I know I could get at least 20% less than their price by dealing with the seller directly.

X2 Made the mistake one time and they are relentless. I would not want my boat associated with them.

One time fee. Don't know if THT has a special deal or not.

Will hire anyone to spam craigslist ads, if you run multiple ads you will have multiple telemarketers harassing the crap out of you.
