2000 extended cab Z-71, 106k, maintaince consists of 1 battery, oil and lube when the computer says to (about 5000mi.), 1 set of tires, that's it. The new smallblocks will "piston-slap" for about 30 seconds when cold, doesn't hurt anything. The truck runs great, good power, good mileage, tight. Well pleased.
I have a 99 with about 55k and haven't had any major issues, besides the piston slap. The Tahoe is a company truck but if*it were mine I would be a little ticked off because the slap started with less than 10k on the truck.**I do have to say my biggest complaint is the low visibility.
This year my wife and I*traded in our Blazer and a Chevy*PU*for an Expedition and a F-250*Super Duty Super Cab and we couldn't be happier.
The viz in the Fords is fantastic and mechanicaly so far so good.
I own a 1999 Tahoe, same engine and I have 112,000 miles. We just replaced battery once and replaced the fuel pump once.
Interior dash lights for radio controls went out, but I have not replaced.
I have kept it waxed and the interior leather has held up well. My son currently uses it to go to school. No deterioration to exterior paint or chrome.
I have recently purchased a new 2004 Chev Avalanche for better towing. The brakes are an improvement over the 1999. I trailer a 226 GW.
Will it be a primary towing rig, or will be the daily driver with occasional towing or no towing at all?
If you will be towing, what is it (boat or utility trailer), loaded weight and how far...
Overall Tahoes seem to be good, but it's like anything.. Rollin the dice on whether you get a lemon or a gem.

I had a 99 and it was in the shop more than on the road. It was a total piece of crap. I wont buy another GM product again. That Tahoe put a bad taste in my mouth and wallet. Wish it didn't break down all the time. I did like it. as far as the looks and interior. Finally got rid of it in November and my Blood pressure has dropped alot since....

Fish, today may be your lucky day. I have an 01 LS with 58K and all the stuff you mentioned. The lease on this vehicle is expiring in March and the residual is 16,500. I am the only person to have ever driven the vehicle so I know exactly what it has been through. I have checked with my dealer and the black book (what they buy it for) is 16,400. In other words I will be turning it in and leaving with a new 05 model. I have all maint records and NOTHING was skipped or performed late, the records will bear it out. If you are interested, let me know, you can have it for the residual...... I'm just north of Charlotte, NC........
