Default Sunroom windows

As mentioned in an earlier thread I have a metal addition currently a screened in porch.

I have seen windows on similar additions that appear to basically be storm window but rather than using glass they use an extremely thick vinyl product - similar to curtains on the boat - the results are nice for the seasons here in NC.....makes the room usable on most winter days with a little electric heater.

I am not trying to make the room 100% usable with heat/air etc. Just trying to make it tolerable on most cool afternoons and evenings.

During storms the window is removed completely in order to avoid damage to the vinyl

I was wondering if any of you Florida guys would know where I could buy some of these windows. I cannot seem to find anyone locally that is familiar with where they could be purchased.

thanks in advance!

As a stopgap measure for my screened porch (12 x 23 ft), I rescreened with Screen Tight track systems http://www.screentight.com/screenedporch.shtml

Then, I bought some clear 4 mil vinyl sheeting at Walmart and secured it with the tack covers.

It's not the prettiest job in the world, but it stops the wind with minimal disruption to the view.

Maybe in a few seasons, I will spring for removeable clear architectural lexan panels

I will spring for recoverable clear architectural lexan panels
So how UV resilient is this stuff?
Why this apposed to glass?
Glass would have to be a ton cheaper wouldn't it?
How's the weight apposed to glass?

I've got 6' x 8' panes. If I drop a lexan panel, it may discolor the corner. If I drop a glass panel...

That's the only reason I was considering lexan vs glass. Unless I went with some sort of major framing job, I was looking at a remove and stow strategy.

Makes perfect sense to me, but WOW are those BIG panels. They a nice and big for looking out of, but are you figuring on two people to install and remove them every time the wind comes up or use somesort of dolly? Are you going to drill holes in the lexan and screw them directly into place when you install them?
