Need help/advice with my new laptop I got an HP zd7310 laptop about 3 weeks ago. It has a 17 inch wide screen and I am thrilled with it . I replaced a 6 year old computer and it is my first laptop. However, I noticed last night, for the first time two very small defects in the screen which I quess are bad pixels. One is about the size of a dot you would make with a sharp pencil and is left center at the top of the screen. It is not in my field of view and I have to hunt for it. It is most visible when the screen is white(very rare) and it has a pale green color. The other defect looks a little bigger, about half the diameter of a pencil eraser and is very faint and also a pale green. This one is less defined and almost looks like a smudge, but it is not. It is below the glossy cover on the screen and is lower left out of my vision and is hard to find.
My question is this. I have a 30 day return for this unit which expires Jan 6. I would hate to start over since I have everything set up just right. But I am worried that the screen may be prone to this deect with the pixels. HP says it is no big deal and is only cosmetic and there is no guaranty that a new replacement will be better but they will take this one back if I want. They say that LCD screens are never or rarely perfect and mine is not bad enough for warranty but since I got it mail order I can return it no questions asked. Again, I don't want to return it unless to not do so would be foolish. My son says I should not fixate on it but his laptop has no screen defects. Help me decide. I am not a computer expert and I am otherwise very very happy and proud of this thing. |
