Default How to OPEN MS Works Spreadsheet???????

I'm getting error message saying that I have 6 spreadsheets open and I need to close one of them before I can get into it again.

The problem is how to get into the program around that error message that's blocking access.

The underlying problem is how I have 6 open when I was only working on one of them?

Anybody?

I'm not sure if this is your issue but could it be that Works is counting the "sheets" in the xls? I am not familiar with Works but I do know it is a scaled down version of Office.

If the spreasheet was created in Excel and has multiple sheets (tabs on the bottom), this might be your issue.

It's in Works, not Excel. There are no tabs, and that's what's strange about the message that suggests I've reached the limit of some memory function.

At this point I click on the Spreadsheet icon and can't open it; nothing that that message with the Catch 22 phrase.

Re-booted the computer and I can now open Works...but the worry lingers about if or when it's going to happen again. Any ideas would be appreciated.

if using for business and your work goes outside your computer, you really need to get Office and quit using Works.

If you get the Student Version of Office, it's a boatload cheaper. It comes with Excel, and will do whatever you need.

Yes, you can get it cheaper IF you are or know someone who is a student.

One caveat with that, you only get 2 distinct downloads. At least that was the restriction when I purchased mine a number of years ago.

MS Works is still around??

An alternative to paying for (or stealing) a copy of MS Office is a free download of LibreOffice:

http://www.libreoffice.org/download/

I have to use MS Office at work, but I use LibreOffice at home. I keep a copy handy at work since LibreOffice is pretty good at opening and fixing MS Office docs when MS Office starts throwing out weird errors.
