Default Extended-Extended Warranty Offer......

Has anyone ever heard of “Boaters Warranty Service Group” from Coral Springs, FL. ??????? *Or “American Guardian Warranty Services, Inc.” from Glen Ellyn, IL.?????I received a call from them this past week offering me an extended-extended (already gone through the factory extended warranty) warranty on my 01, 200 EFI Merc. I requested written literature and it just arrived. Literature says “All policies re-insured by Hannover Ins. Co. then further down in the lit is says “All policies are fully insured by American Guardian”. Cost for 5 years is 1820.00. Says it pays directly (via a Corp Credit Card) to the servicing dealer (of my choice) and I get reimbursed for “taxes and fluids”. Any opinions or knowledge???????????

What exactly are they covering? Read the fine print. What do they agree to pay, the actual costs or the "prevailing rates". Talk to several service shops in your area and find out their experiences with this company before you commit.

I plan to do that anyway. They say "All Parts and Labor". No mention*whether the "Labor" is actual or prevailing, excellent point, THAT'S why I'm asking here. I can't cover all of the bases myself, I NEED you Guys watching my back...........*

Default RE: Extended-Extended Warranty Offer......

I think I got a call from the same company a couple of years ago? My motor was still in a one year extended warranty via Yama at the time. They indicated that they included parts that were NOT included in the extended warranty - items that Yamaha did NOT cover.

I DID discuss with my local dealer but I can't remember what the story was? I just recall it didn't sound like it was worth pursuing. I DO trust my Yama dealer enough to take them at their word!

Do as you said and talk to a few service shops about their experience with the company. Even if it's "positive", I'd STILL check with your BBB and see what they had to say!

I'd think there a some here (as BIG as we are!) that have had dealings with this company?

I know that you CAN get a "used warranty" from Yama (not sure what brand motor you have?) that applies AFTER the end of other warranties, but I think the motor has to be "checked out" FIRST by a Yama service shop (I think at YOUR expense) to see if it's "warrantable"(?), and that the warranty itself is pretty expensive!

Good luck and keep us posted as to what you find out!

Regards,
