Default Need some prayers to the "you got a home" God.. :-)

Hey guys, just logged on the PC log enough to check mail and figured I would check in and give an update..

Caroline and I have been travelling all over this great area in search of a new home and yesterday was a good day. To make a long story short, we put an offer on a house today in the Newport News area. For you folks that know the area, it is in the Winterhaven subdivision just off Warwick and just north of J Clyde Morris east of 64. Very nice area and I really hope they accept our offer.

Keep your fingers crossed and say an extra prayer for us, we'd appreciate it..

I will say one thing, I am sure glad that we won't be hopping into the realtors' car tomorrow for another 8 hours of house hunting. In our quest, we have travelled from Hampton to Franklin with all points in-between within about a 40 mile radius. This house will be about a 10 mile commute for me and maybe a 20 mile for Caroline. That's pretty good, but for this year she will have to fight the tunnels until she applies on this side of the peninsula next school year. I can say one thing, in less than a week, I have a pretty good knowledge of the whole area and haven't been lost in 2 days. I'm even starting to get some short cuts! LOL

Take care and God bless,
Chris

Good luck Chris

House hunting is always a pain . . . take your time and don't be uneccessarily presurred by the real estate types.

Thanks Gus,

You sure are right about it being a pain. I figure we have seen somewhere in the range of 25 or more houses in 4 days. We feel pretty good about this one and pictures will follow after we get it (hopefully).

Real estate agent has been great and we have worked him pretty hard and not a single complaint. He's been raring to go whenever we need him and he even worked Friday, yesterday and today without the slightest hesitation. In fact, when we wanted him to spend some time with his family on Saturday, he said "what are you talking about, we got a house to find you guys - see ya in the morning!" And the added bonus is that he's got a great sense of humor and if he's not cracking me up, I am cracking him up and Caroline just sits in the back and keep shakin her head.. Either way, we plan to get together off the clock after all is said and done and that, my friend, is priceless..

*

Chris,

Good luck with your house find.* I certainly know what it's like.* It was only 1 1/2 yrs ago when we moved here and were in your shoes.* We took our time and are happy with our purchase, neighborhood, neighbors and the new friends we've made.* You'll have to come over to our side sometime when we have a "meeting" of the Jimmy's Pizza conspiracy group.* It's a great bunch of guys and some wives of the local fishermen from here to as far as Richmond.* you know them as the guys on the other board.

If you haven't already lined up your money I can recommend a local mortgage company.

I have no connection with them, other than that they have done a couple of loans for me, and they were quick and treated me right.

Congrats and good luck on the house. We have moved 3 times in 4 years. A good agent is worth thier weight in gold, esp an ethical one. You'll be fishing in no time....

Good Luck there Chris! Hope to see y'all soon ... if I ever make it up there.

Keep in mind what Gus said, make sure it is right. I moved into a house hastely once, I recommend against it.

That sounds like GREAT news, Chris! Looks to be a good area and convenient to the OUTDOOR WORLD, too!

Hope everything works out - hard to go through that "waiting period".

The commute doesn't sound too bad - hard to live close AND, not have to do some driving down there. But, like I said before, I'd rather live where I like it and make the drive.

The MAIN criteria for "house location" anywhere near the water is how far it is to the BOAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck, and we all hope for "no counter-offers by the seller"! Sounds like you're in a good position and that the sellers should be very favorable to that!

Keep us posted!

Regards,
