Taking the family to san diego late march.
(Wife, 2 sons (16 and 10), and I)
Have never been to SD before.
Would like to get 1 day on the water,
either a rental boat to pioner around,
or fishing with my 10 year old son.

Timing:

I think your best bet is to take a 3/4 day boat out of Fisherman's Landing. You'll probably be looking at bottom fishing as it is early for tuna and yellowtail. You might see some Bonito but for the most part you'll be looking at bass or whitefish. Might still be fun for your 10 year old as the California Gray whales will probably be running.

Welcome to paradise but shhhhh, keep it a secret.

Take lots of money because the day of fishing will probably be the cheapest thing you will do.

Timeing....

When you hit San Diego, you want to stay on Shelter Island. Only 10 mins. from the airport, pick up your rent a car and if you wish you can book a hotel right Shelter Island,

Plenty of good resturants near by. Most of your better Head Boats are on Shelter Island anyway. Hotels are pretty expensive on the Isle.

When you book a boat , full day or 1/2 day, get their early parking is a mojor problem in Cailfornia. You'll see what i mean when you get there. You can even rent rods and reels if you want too. They make it easy for you, but not cheep.

Adjacent to Shelter island you will find Harbor Island. Very good resturants, pricey
and get their early, parking again... You'll see....

Don't forget to visit Old Town, Very nice gift shops and fantastic Mexican food.
If you buy anything, keep it small, shipping it home will only become a problem as
we had our card # used for other items we didn't buy.... We had to dispute this with the credit card co. 3 months of greif...

Take a trip up through Pacific Beach to La Jolla Cove, if its warm enough you can swim
on the local beach. The water is great and the Garabaldy fish are protected.
They come right up to you, they dont care. You will see the seals too.

Traveling up the coastal road Pacific Coast Highway to differant towns is fun too...
parking is always a problem hense the land of the fruits and nutz and the rest are flakes

Well i could go on... but catch you later...
