Random Quote: Dad, when are they gonna start biting?
My wife sorta wants one of these unlimiteds too. I had a 96 Grand Cherokee that had horrible electrical gremlins from the day I bought it so I am gun-shy of Jeeps. In that spirit, there seem to be a bunch of very low mileage fairly new Wrangler unlimiteds on the market. This concerns me that these are lemons. Or is it just that it's a bit of a specialty rig that folks get tired of quickly or have bought as a toy?
With all that, I gave my cherokee to someone I know and it's still running with 235K on it!!

Wranglers are often purchased in the spring and summer. Most often, they are soft tops. So, as you suggest, folks trade them in, or sell them. Another reason you see "so many" Unlimiteds is because they sold a TON of them compared to the previous model Wrangler. There are just allot of them out there

BTW, if any Jeep owners are interested theres an iphone app called TripCast by Jeep. All i really know so far is that you can track your trips and post them online, and use it to network with other jeep owners. The apps brand spanking new.
I'll be trying it out for the first time soon, since i just installed it last nite. www.jeeptripcast.com
Whats wrong with the color ?? It takes a real man to be able to pull pink off.( House of kolor majenta pearl ) My wife said spend as much as you want as long as you paint it pink . She was joking I wasnt . JEEP stands for JUST EMPTY EVERY POCKET
It pulls great
Cgrand, thanks for the offer, I'm always searching for the next future Ex, but be advised that with my penchant for throwing down alimony and impulsive toy buying I have a significant amount of applicants. That said I DID drive said jeep for about 100 miles this weekend and while some might find the ergonomics a bit odd I got used to them quickly, even at 70 on the interstate I expected alot more noise but there wasn't much, and the stereo is good enough to drown that and any..unwanted conversation out.
Good info, I am well aware of the Euro Jeep lineup, most of my Family lives there. The Wrangler Unlimited was not available in 2006 with the 4.0. I am speaking specificallly of US spec cars. Any diesel will be from the Fiat group. I never suggested that Diesel Jeep product didnt exist in the US, I have a diesel Grand and a diesel Liberty. Its not an argument. You were erroneous in stating the wrangler in question from the OP is a rollover hazard. I also didnt say anything about Chrysler "scratching" any power plants, I said look for a prodution Wrangler with a diesel for 2012 model year. I looked in the order system just now. and there is no 2011 Diesel product (wrangler) listed as available for order.
Yes all short wheel based Jeeps (Suv's) are
prone to roll over/tip/floop, etc...
just look on the net, most has been surpressed, you will never find the real stats about the Wrangler.
It is a knowed issued on the Wrangler, I don't want to say more.
"JEEP ROLLOVER & 60 MINUTES BROADCAST IN 1980
The issue of rollover first made national news in 1980 when CBS's 60 Minutes aired a report on the Jeep CJ, the model for many early SUVs. The report showed footage of an Insurance Institute of Highway Safety test in which the vehicle rolled over while executing a "J" turn (a sweeping right turn followed by a straight-on path; I.E. a quick turn to avoid an object in its path). Despite the rollover risk, Americans flocked to the Jeep. With slumping sales, other automakers took notice.
As Jeep continued to play a major role in the SUV market, the rollovers of Jeep vehicles continued as well. After an avalanche of bad press and more rollover lawsuits of Jeep CJ-5 and Jeep CJ-7, Jeep marketed the Jeep Wrangler to "fix" the problem and provide a new image to the sport utility department. Unfortunately, the Jeep Wrangler also had rollover-related problems. Jeep then once again had to make changes to their new Jeep Wrangler which did in fact make it more stable and reduce the number of rollovers (and ultimately a reduction in the number of lawsuits). Jeep then started to market a much sportier and family-friendly model of the Jeep – Cherokee and Grand Cherokee. This strategy was a huge success to the Jeep division of Chrysler. As more and more people bought the ever popular Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Grand Cherokee and even the Jeep Grand Wagoneer Limited, the numbers of rollover accidents and roof crush injuries remained. Surprisingly, Jeep came out with another SUV, named the Jeep Liberty, a short sporty mini SUV built to compete with the RAV4 and Ford Escape class of vehicles. Jeep Liberty rollovers started as well. Only time will tell if the Jeep Liberty rollover problem will be resolved or not".
I figure out is a waste of time talking to people from California, "knowledge" equates to 0!

He's not looking at 06's. You are wrong on this model, deal with it. Regardless of what state your in. (which you fail to metion interestingly enough) The man is looking at the NEW 4 DOOR wrangler models (which are not available with the 4.0)., you are confusing it with the LWB TJ Model available in 06' (2-door as well) Looked kinda like a CJ-8 or "Scrambler". You should read your own links and compare them to the OP.
Gees, let it lie. It's OK to be wrong on occasion. Now, if he is looking at an 06' or earlier, your "argument" may have some merit. But I am sure the "Man" is supressing the info.
1980 Sixty minutes? Really? LOL.

Go back and read what you wrote, there was not a 06 "Unlimited" with
4.0L, and I'm the liar...
You can't figure out the picture's I posted are newer Wrangler's and by
the way they look after the crash, can you say ROLLOVER!!!
I've been wrong many times, and I don't have problems aknowledging when I'm wrong.
I don't want to discuss the matter anylonger, I work in insurance,
I know more people die driving a suzuki GXR 600/750/1000R
than any other motorcycle around the World, I knew this info before I started working in insurance...
I would like to have a Wrangler as a toy, still I aknowledge long time ago their flaw's,
SE shown
Kelley Blue Book$14,900 - $16,850
The 2006 Wrangler is a 2-door, 4-passenger sport-utility, available in 6 trims, ranging from the SE to the... read more Unlimited Rubicon. The 2006 Wrangler's closest competitors include the Buick Rendezvous, the Hyundai Tucson, and the Toyota Highlander.
Upon introduction, the SE is equipped with a standard 2.4-liter, I4, 147-horsepower engine that achieves 18-mpg in the city and 21-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard. The Unlimited Rubicon is equipped with a standard 4.0-liter, I6, 190-horsepower engine that achieves 15-mpg in the city and 19-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard, and a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional.
Screw it, it looks like I'm talking to Menzies, not worth it...
Jeep is saying is not a issue since 1980, they continue to rollover,
whatever, "marketing" knows best...
Like I said and you can look it up on the INET, if your really want a Wrangler save the money, buy new.
Offcourse the 4 door has a longer space between axes and will not rollover as easy.
Yes, 2007 to 2010 models have showed some improvements, heck they been inproving since the 80's,
according to the GOVERNMENT, offcourse we know the Government would not lie to us...
"Go back and read what you wrote, there was not a 06 "Unlimited" with
4.0L, and I'm the liar..."
Huh. you posted a picture of an 06 with a 4.0, which is exactly what I said was the case?
The Car was completely redesigned for 07' (with the 3.8) Its a different vehicle than the 06'
Dint say you were a Liar (Insurance guy eh), I said you were mistaken. Which, clearly you are based on your own post.
The 07 an newer is a totally different car than the 97-06. That is a fact. There is no 4.0 07 and newer in Fact, the 06 and earlier had the 4.0 in fact.
Ive been in the Jeep business since the end of the CJ's. You are wrong about your ascertation of 07 and newer (OP said NEWER wranglers) Thats all, I dont think you are a liar, stubborn as a mule, but not a liar.

Thats nice. You will have fun with that. Beware the big tire advice unless you have a real need as your not so good MPG's will go from not so good to dismal. Also, bigger tires need taller gears. then the air lockers, then the rubicon express kit, then the flipped ford 9" diffs.......
