Plus I HATE Bruce. He acts like he is the common man. My daughter rides horses against his daughter he bought a horse for $850,000 for his 16 year old REAL COMMON.

I think Jim "buttbanger" McGreevy put in that Exit Tax in, it was to keep people from moving to Pa. to escape the taxes. Our state is going to have some serious changes this year with Christie.

Yeah Bruce spoils his kids. 850k for a horse ? I hate his blue collar act but I like a lot of his songs. He looks like dirt bag when I see him at the gym, but then he gets into his 100k Range Rover to pick his kid up at the prep school, then to his big farm in Colts Neck, yeah not exactly blue collar.

Yea his big farm in colts neck and his mansion in Rumson. Needs his Range Rover to get back and forth between the two and do his shows where he sings about helping the poor!

For years I thougth "truck 1&9" was a sign typically used for the following:

"Your going to drive in circles for a couple of hours and turn off having no idea if your still in New Jersey or not"

Ahhh..New Jersey--the pearl of the north east.

Nothing better than falling asleep on a connecting flight into Newark, waking up, walking in the terminal and wondering if you've been secretly flown to another country.

Hey!! I am a Florida so I have no room to complain about NJ. But with every negetive you need to mention a positive.

Jersey girls are fun; a lot of fun.

Wow, 3 pages and nobody has come to Jersey's defense. There has never been a thread go 3 pages here without an argument. Jersey must really be THAT bad.

I love it here...except the taxes & snow. Most out-of-staters only see the NJ Turnpike which is no indication of what NJ is all about. And politically, as of our recent gubernatorial race, maybe we are finally going in the RIGHT direction.

You must have forgotten about the late 90's.
I had a contract to plow on rt. 9 and on the way to the job i noticed lightning during a snow storm
When i got to the job i realized it wasn't lightning, it was trees falling on the power lines breaking them, that was the storm we got over 30" of snow and they declared a state of emergency, and yet there were people pulling into the parking lot wondering why Shop Rite was closed.

For the guys knocking Bruce, What do you expect him to do, live on a 50' X 100' in Freehold or Asbury?

The man is worth millions and millions, he's got a family he has to worry about and if you think kidnapping is not a real threat to these people you are mistaken.

I'd be willing to bet that he long's to be just a regular guy again every day, when you think about it were the ones that have it made. Nobody wants anything from me but my wife, and luckily for me she never pushes it.

I myself have never had a problem with NJ (born and raised) until this year with the C.O. thingy. I own property in a few towns and have never been through something like this. If this is the worst that I get hit with I'll live.

About the snow, well some people like snow (not me), I'm looking south myself.

What's the CO thingy about ?

I have no problem with Bruce, exept his liberal way of thinking. Some people get po'd that he made all his money singing songs about working class people down on their luck and now he's walking around with probably a billion dollars. He's good guy actually, I know some people who know him.

As far as defending NJ ...whatever.

I am from NJ. I curse... a lot. I say "yo", and I say it often. I never had school on Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur. I sure as hell don't pump my own gas. I know what real pizza tastes like, and I know that a bagel is much more than a fuckin' roll with a hole in the middle. I judge people by what exit they get off the parkway. I can navigate a circle--with attitude. All good nights must end at a diner--preferably with cheese fries. It's a sub, not a hoagie or, worse yet, a hero, and I wash it down with soda, not pop. Two words... "mother fucker." I don't go to the beach, I go down the shore. And boardwalk brawls are just a part of the atmosphere. Yes, I drink cawfee. I know that 65mph really means 80. I've always lived within 10 minutes of a mall. When someone cuts me off, they get the horn AND the finger. And they expect it. I am from New Jersey, and damn proud of it."

You Know You're from New Jersey When...
...you recognize or can relate to at least 10 of these:
  • You've been seriously injured at Action Park.
  • You know that the only people who call it "Joisey" are from New York (usually The Bronx) or Texas.
  • You don't think of citrus when people mention "The Oranges."
  • You know that it's called "Great Adventure," not "Six Flags."
  • You've ordered a hard roll with butter for breakfast.
  • You've known the way to Seaside Heights since you were seven.
  • You've eaten at a diner, when you were stoned or drunk, at 3 am.
  • Whenever you park, there's a Camaro within three spots of you.
  • You remember that the "Two Guys" were from Harrison.
  • You know that the state isn't one big oil refinery.
  • At least three people in your family still love Bruce Springsteen, and you know what town Jon Bon Jovi is from.
  • You know what a "jug handle" is.
  • You know that a WaWa is a convenience store.
  • You know that the state isn't all farmland.
  • You know that there are no "beaches" in new Jersey - there's "The Shore," and you know that the road to the shore is "The Parkway" not "The Garden State Highway."
  • You know that "Piney" isn't referring to a tree.
  • Even your school cafeteria made good Italian subs, and, you call it a "sub" not a "submarine sandwich" or worse yet, a "hoagy" or a "hero."
  • You remember the song from the Palisades Park commercials.
  • You know how to properly negotiate a Circle.
  • You knew that the last question had to do with driving.
  • You know that "Acme" is an actual store, not just a Warner Bros creation.
  • You know that this is the only "New..." state that doesn't require "New" to identify it (like, try ...Mexico, ...York, ...Hampshire (doesn't work, does it?).
  • You know how to translate this conversation: "Jeet yet?" "No, Jew?"
  • You only go to New York City for day trips, and you only call it "The City."
  • You know that a "White Castle" is the name of BOTH a fast food chain AND a fast food sandwich.
  • You consider a corned beef sandwich with lettuce and mayo a sacrilege.
  • In the 80's you wore your hair REALLY high.
  • You don't think "What exit" (do you live near?) is very funny.
  • You know that the real first "strip shopping center" in the country is Route 22.
  • You know that people from 609 area code are "a little different."
  • You know that no respectable New Jerseyan goes to Princeton - that's for out-of-staters.
  • The Jets-Giants game has started fights at your school or local bar.
  • You live within 20 minutes of at least three different malls.
  • You can see the Manhattan skyline from some part of your town.
  • You refer to all highways and interstates by their numbers.
  • Every year, you had at least one kid in your class named Tony.
  • You know where every "clip" shown in the Sopranos opening credits is.
  • You've gotten on the wrong highway trying to get out of Willowbrook Mall.
  • You've eaten a Boardwalk cheesesteak with vinegar fries.
  • You have a favorite Atlantic City casino.
  • You start planning for Memorial Day weekend in February.
  • And finally...
  • You've never pumped your own gas.

In all honesty besides, high taxes, corrupt politicians, and crappy winters, I actually like NJ. I like the summers, fishing, beaches, people, restaurants, good schooling, the rural parts, the women, close proximity to NY and Philly, opportunities to make money. However, eventually I hope to own a place down south.
