It's kind of interesting that a bunch of Saab fans can mount a campaign with lot's of global support to advocate GM reversing their decision to stand down and fold Saab while the Hummer user base just stands by and watches Hummer go over the cliff.
Saab's have been around forever, their cars are not as "extravagant" or glorified.....I had two saabs, the first was an 85 that I put over 240,000 miles on, the second was a 92, the year before GM bought and ruined them....I put 140,000 on that one.....After GM purchased them, I never gave them a second look.....maybe spyker can bring back some of the value to the car....the 4 cylinder turbo engine in the mid 80's to 94 was a great engine that would last forever, 2.0-2.3 litres....fun car to drive.....
Hummer, imo, became over commercialized....good truck...but you don't need to have that in the same product line as yukons, suburbans and escalades...

I can say that the deal with Spyker wasnt anything to do with Saab owners standing up to GM, that deal was already talked about long ago. I currently own three Saab's with the 2.3L engine, one which makes 300 hp, its a fun car to drive and very under-estimated. A stock 9-5 Aero will do 40-75 mph quicker then a Porsche 911 Turbo, crank it up to 300 hp and you can hang with almost anything on the road.
Saab has a history, Hummer was just a GMC 2500 frame motor and drivetrain with some oversized sheet metal bolted to it with no real history besides the H1- and we all know that has nothing to do with the Hummers we see on the road.
If the brand is dead so be it, 5 years from now no one will even remember them.

Hummer was a fad. Period. Hay, look at me kind of vehicle. No practical use for "most" owners. Safety maybe, but that's it. Shame we couldn't have snookered the chinese in to buying it. They sell us worthless crap, we should sell them all our worthless crap. Toward the end of my military career, my battalion tested three different offerings to replace the jeep, and the H1 hummer was the absolute best of the three. Running through 2 inch sapling pines at 35 mph (wide open) was absolutely fun. But the seat's sucked, a 2 inch foam pad on top of steel plate. The most positive thing that came out of all of it was that I was able to find many lakes at Ft. Lewis that looked Really fishy. Hehe.
H2 is a plastic body on top of a GMC Yukon's frame, same suspension etc...
H1 is a totally different vehicle..and comes with a totally different price tag.
best Hummer for the $ is the one i got last night..
cheers

That is crap.
Which idiot told you that CO2 only makes up 0.039% of the atmosphere?
Got rear-ended in my "piece of chit" H2 with a "plastic body" last night. The other car was traveling roughly 35 to 40mph, I've included a picture of it. My trailer hitch went right through her radiator and she got far enough under me that my spare tire ruined her hood. Nobody was hurt, including my H2. Plenty of paint chips from her car all over my hitch and bumper but after wiping those off you can't even tell I was in an accident. Last I checked I'm riding on a combination of a GM 3/4 ton chassis, GM 1/2 ton chassis, and some all new H2 exclusive parts. And maybe I'm stupid and should bow down to Semper Fi-sh's superior knowledge, but I'm pretty sure I know the difference between plastic and metal and last I checked my H2's body is made of metal. And as far as it being a fad and fashion statement, I spend probably 40% of my time in 4WD, whether I'm going up to my mountain house in a couple feet of snow, mudding, driving on the beach, or passing and/or towing out various pickup models, Jeeps, Subaru's, etc. etc. I'm not dissing any of those other vehicles, but I think the H2 deserves a lot more credit than it's given and all this talk of it being an oversized, over-priced GMC Yukon or Chevy Tahoe just gets me riled up.
Show me a car that wouldn't snap a tie rod if the driver was doing something stupid and spinning the tires like that.... The guy has come onto every Hummer forum out there and admitted that it was his fault and he got a little over-zealous with the accelerator.
That's me at a WMA here in FL that has lots of deep mud and "puddles." That was one of the shallowest and shortest we went through that day. The following video was taken 4 days before I was there, and there was a full day of rain between the video and me being there.
