To allow someone to drive who is passed out behind the wheel often, crashes a couple times a week , have open pill bottles with various pills all over the seat and floor(to me that would show no control or over what they are doing} and allow them to go because they knew what date it is.. I'm screwed, I rarelly know what date it is. Everyday is a work day?
What even seems to be equally as stupid is to allow a person in the same condition be checked out of the hospital. Specially this time of year. Where do these people go ? Last night was a wind chill factor of 10 below zero and the hospital releaces people who can't stay awake at any givin time for more than 5 minites and passes out for extended amounts of time. What if on the way home from there 12 mile walk home in below zero conditions they pass out for 2 hours at 10 at night. Someone finds these people frozen to death on their front lawn the next morning? If you get stopped and have had 3 drinks you are screwed for at least a year. Railroaded in comparison. There is a major pregidice going on here! Only in Ma.. I'm sure its elsewhere but I don't know for sure.
The cops are willing to let people go if they are passed out over the steering wheel here in Ma if they know what date it is if you are under the influence of drugs. Even if the drugs are spilled all over the lap of the person. some on the seats and floor. I don't think that is smart.
I don't thinks its smart to let people out of the hospital either when the temps are wind chill 10 below zero if a person knows the date. a quarter mile up the street the person could pass out on someone front lawn aand not be found until morning. I just don't think that is aprpriate. They don't allow that for someone who was drinking.
I worked with a guy that had 5 DWI's and was still allowed to have his license by the judges.
His own brother told me, "He still drinks and drives. What does he have to do, kill
someone to have his license taken away?"

I woun't disagree that there are people who need help but why should there be someone out there like that and then some losses the license for years because they got stopped at a road block and had 3 beers at a party instead of 2. years of AA , blowing into testing equiptmnet evey time you want to start a car... stupid People who drink are treaded as 3rd class citizens and drug user get a get out of jail free pass.

If you are imparied, your imparied. Go to jail, sorry, when you are the one having to tell relatives that their loved one is dead, you will understand.... Got no tolance for someone that risks my families life, my friends or mine....

Sorry but I don't need to teach my 4 year old niece that smoking is legal but stupid. There are plenty of things that fall into that catagory, don't need another.
I normally avoid these threads, but as she sits on my lap today for guidance through life, I can't with a good concience go for legalizing it, no matter what the argument.
No one ever got further in life by smoking or drinking. Don't give me the booze BS argument.
That makes sence to me but thats not how it works in Ma. They just let you do whatever you want if you know what the date is.
Boatman, I think I agree with you, but I still don't understand your point with what you are saying. Cracker no offense, but the DUI crap is ridiculous, the "legal limit" is so low, and all of the DUI tests are geared for someone to fail...hell they just keep giving you crazy test after crazy test until,,,bingo you failed one. Some of these damn test's most people couldnt do sober. Now, knock on wood I have never had a DUI, but especially now that I have a professional license that I could lose I am scared to death to have a drink or two and drive home b/c it seems the limit is so low!! Damn, did I just go on a rant or what!!! Anyway you got the idea.
Boatman what do you mean by knowing what the date is, anyway?

If I was driving, I wouldn't have a beer down my Dad's house or he would not have one up my house for fear of being pulled over and the possibility of getting a DWI and what goes along with it.
Now both of my kids are over 21, I'm worried for them also.
DUI's are a big money maker.I'd put down a large sum of money saying my reaction time at.08 is better then an 80 yr olds.MADD organization is about as fanatical as PETA. My things always been if someone smokes a fatty at a party and drives and gets pulled over, what happens?? How do they prove you are stoned?(if you have nothing on you).I'm not supporting drinking and driving at all but the laws are ridiculous, and as noted above they treat you like a criminal. All I know is DUIs generate a ton of money
Appearantly, it is common here in Ma to allow someone to go about whatever if... you can answer the question of," what is todays date", correctly. Unless you have the smell of booze on you. You can't even have a open container in the car even if it isn't yours.
Not quite what I was seeing ,,,but the person was passing out every 2 minutes or so from 10 seconds to 5 minutes,
Go ahead kid... you can go,\\\\\ you know what todays date is.
Yea you should have non problem walking home 12 miles in a wind chill of 10 below zero.( granted, the hospital didn't know what this person was going to do when out the front door of the hospital but the person was in such a condition that you could expect the person to do almost anything... and the person did
