Default Okay Okay

Just spent the afternoon shoveling snow out of the driveway. It was easily the biggest snow we have had for over 10 years. Sooooo, if this global warming doesn't let up, I am going to break down and buy a tractor with a snowplow next year. I'm getting too old for shoveling the stuff.

Sorry to hear that. It only got up to around 48here today.

BTW, what has snow got to do with global warming?

That junk was so light and fluffy I swept a path into the house when I got home.
Of course, everyone else walked on it so I have to shovel the "snow prints" now.
Just north of DC we got I think 4 or 5"

Menz, when ya keep getting snow, global warming must be false.
I'm tire of shoveling too, good thing some of us don't live in Buffalo! LOL!

Yep, but I waited till mid day to shovel, after I drove over it a few times with the suburban. Plus we have a long driveway to be shoveling by hand and we had over 15 inches easily. Perhaps Algore can tell me when the warming will end so I can decide if I need to invest in that snow plow or not. Anyway, towards the end I supervised the kids as they shovelled.

Next time ....if you have a leaf blower they work great on a path or pavement for snow so light.

Yeah, SOMEWHERE in the shed...
Prolly doesn't work, LOL!
Great idea though!

I know there is about a foot in/on the boat, need to go run it and blow it off.

I decided a couple of years ago that I was too old to shovel a 350' driveway when the plow guy didn't show up.

Bought the biggest Snowthrower that Craftsman made. Thought about a 4x4 ATV with a plow which would be more fun. Deep heavy snow (like the 22" we got before XMAS) is too much for the ATV. It took 2 passes with the Snowthrower

Yesterday, it took me 30 minutes to do 350'. Yes, I love my Snowthrower

Do yourself a favor and get one. You wont use it every year, but it might just save your back or your life (lots of heart attacks shoveling snow)

And while you are out there clearing snow you can thumb your nose at Al et al. as you burn irreplaceable fossil fuel and belch carcinogens into the air in the name of global warming

Wow that is cool. That looks like a good answer. How much does something like that run?

Regarding the leaf blower idea. Sorry but it isn't going to work in waste deep snow like we had yesterday.

That is a good deal. I will check them out. It doesn't appear global warming is going to let up anytime soon.

I'm in Delaware and have a 125' + + Drive, Years ago I bought the plow attachment/chains/weights for my John Deere and it was great until the 1st big snowfall. Had problems pushing all the snow...or no where to push it too....
It was nice if you stayed with the storm..but where I am and the open fields and wind, the drive would backfill all the time...+ it beat my tractor up before its time....

Went and bought a large snowblower and it was the best tool I ever bought.......

My neighbor has a Deere and plow, the big snow in Dec, I was done in 45 Minutes, he was still out there 3 + hours later.....

Just my thoughts.

I was concerned about that with getting a tractor and blade. The snowblower looks like the way.

I have a 100 ft drive also and large turn around space 0- those 2 stage things don't make it. I have a 15 year old 3 hp. craftsman single stage 2 stroke that throws snow 40 feet. You have to push it and go slow if its over a foot but that only happens once or twice a year. I also have an old 5 hp single stage ariens that will throw 50 feet. You want the auger and not the paddle type if you get the single stage -

I dont know if the newer 4 stroke single stage jobs work as well. But if I was down south and wanted a blower I wouldn't waste the money on the big machines. Just a thought for those that don't have one and are thinking of buying. Also, the absolute cheapest way is to hire a kid or to have the local Mr. Plow come the few time you need it at $20 a pop. Then there is the do nothing approach and drive over it which several of my neighbors use and then get Mr. Plow if it gets too much.

I don't have a lot to shovel and my boys are nearing teenage years
so I won't buy a blower until they go away to college!
I'm also giving up cutting the lawn soon......

That's pretty good Bruce.
Did she realize it added up to 5"? LOL!

This Fri/Sat will be a doozie, snow will easily be in the double digits on the east coast (again).
Check out the pretty NOAA graphic for Saturday.
