Another proof that California is run by freaking idiots, lets see our economy is already in the toilet, we cant aford the welfare losers we have now, so lets encourage more people to become wortless wastes of oxygen. I say we ship all the potheads to cali and then blow it off the map.

Save room on that ship for the alcoholics and those eating pain meds for whatever reason. I'd rather have a man show up for work after smoking pot all night than one who spent his whole evening drinking. Look at all the people eating pain meds and prozac driving on down the street and getting on with life in a legal high. Just because a Dr. prescribed it, don't mean thier minds are not altered by it. "Just say no" we teach the children and then feed them zoombie drugs because it's easier to control them, and call it treating ADD. How do you figure any one who smokes a little herb is instantly worthless or of less value than those who alter themselves with alcohol and pills.

Legalize it as whoever wants it is getting it regardless of what the law has been. The war against drugs has been lost. Drugs won. I believe that marijuana should be taxed and the money used to educate and keep the hard stuff off the streets and there will be plenty left over to be spent on corruption, I mean government waste. Do you folks remember Prohibition? Making booze illegal did not work and in fact made some people very rich. During Prohibition alcohol was able to obtained as long as a prescription was given by a licensed physician and the government received a huge tax on the sale of alcohol. Talk about history repeating itself. Today we debate if MJ should be legal. Tomorrow we will debate the issues of buying the made/grown in China or elsewhere stuff.

The dispensaries want it taxed. They actually offer the taxation as a way to solve some budgetary gaps in state and local government. The Oakland dispensaries lobbied for the legislation and got it passed.

IMO, the government is stupid not to legalize the stuff......MONSTEROUS tax money to be made!

What and stop spending billions in arresting and convicting pot heads?

alcohol & marijuana:

both can be produced at home with inexpensive materials/ingredients
both are/were prohibited at one point
both prohibitions are/were an abject and total failure, and a complete waste of taxpayer dollars and law enforcement assets

now...alcohol is legal, regulated, and taxed, with those taxes a primary funding vehicle for most all federal, state and local governments

as mentioned above...we pump our kinds full of mood/mind altering drugs far more powerful than either alcohol or marijuana, while jailing smokers...

Wonder if you can get a medical exam by e-mail then have your scrip filled and over nighted?

I wonder how many of these people who call them lazy pot heads unknownly have friends and co-workers that smoke it. I know all of you are saying I know my friends better then that but you would be very surprised. The reason alot of people quit smoking pot is because the work place now checks them but they don't care if the guy has an alcohol level of .10 because they stayed up all night drinking. The reason because pot heads have that reputation is because the millions of professionals who smoke pot would never let anyone know because of fears of loosing their job. No I don't smoke pot but did 20 yrs ago every once in a while.

Why send all our money to Mexico?

Legalize and export it.

It's the thing that nobody does that everybody does.

My eyes were opened to that at my BIL's batchler party. Here we are twenty guys wearing pin stripes and cufflinks to the office. Uptight and upright in all ways. The first joint came out and i dont think a single guy passed it by. Or the next one either. I couldnt belive it. Here were all the professional office types blowing weed.

Had me fooled.

I cant smoke it. I dont ever have 4 hours to kill.

Boggles the mind.

The weed is different now than the crap we got back in the 70's. It is segregated into groups of different effects. You buy it like a pair of shoes. You find what exactly it is that you like and buy that. If you want to chew on bread for 4 hours or if you want to feel euphoric but not be hampered by body effects, there is a product for you.

Yeah, it is amazing the number of older Baby Boomers who still smoke it; members of the cuff link and pinstripe crowd as noted above. I never was that big on the stuff and pretty much gave it up entirely in my 20's when my career got going, right there in Oakland and the Bay Area. It zoned me out too much and I didn't want to get busted. But I knew plenty of people who could make the characters in a Cheech and Chong bit look like light weights.

When I was out in LA last fall, my oldest buddy lit one up and offered me a hit. I waved it off and he said , no man,c'mon it's like taking a sip off a good cocktail. Of course, he had his "license" and is one of the healthiest, fit people I know. So I did, and have to admit it was pretty darn smooth...but that was it for me, it was jusssst riiiiight.... So I'd have to say, if it was legalized I might keep a bud around the house, the wife likes it. I could also do without,; a good single malt pretty much serves the same purpose.

Like I said, it is now a huge cash crop out west, no need for imports. Fact is people who want to get loaded are going to get loaded, whether their high of choice is weed, smack, booze or pain killers. Modern weed may be well be the most benign load of all. I'm not fond of being loaded, but ain't gonna be the one to judge.
