Wild, here's that pic I was telling you about. Keep in mind, this pic was taken back in the mid 80's.

Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect every one who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined.

Pretty dog GSD's from way back were different... in the mid 20th century they were brought over here because of their superior workability, often called alastations. As Americans often do, we screwed up a good thing with tons of backyard breeding... what results is 2 distinct "sub breeds"... show lines and working lines. Show lines bred solely on meeting the AKC conformation standards, and working dogs bred solely for work-ability. My dog could never compete in the show ring. Most people think he's a mixed breed because he doesn't have the typical black sadle and tan coat. Both my dogs are from Sch 3 parents. Most were police or military dogs.

There are lots of people that had an awesome GSD as a child, and when they get another one without doing their homework realize GSDs have changed... if you get another GSD, be sure to do your diligence to ensure you're getting a dog of the caliber that you had before... GSDs as breed have produced some much more capable dogs, and some much crappier, since back then

Is that you btw?

Since we're soooo far OT, I have a story.. My previous Golden retriever Sophie was about a calm as they come. One day my former GF & I were arguing over something I did, she was super pissed... As most of you know, this is a very uncomfortable situation for the family pet as it is.... Finally I yelled at her, 'Why don't you just hit me?' or something to that effect... Well she started punching me in the mid-section... Sophie drew the line there! She comes out of the corner and grabs my GF's wrist gently and growled... As if to say, F**k with him you gotta deal with me too... End of argument, we laughed about it for years

My dog has done stuff like that too with people arguing (roommates, not me, I have never had a heated argument or fight in his presence). Dogs are much smarter that some people give them due for. My dog is a very calm cool and collected animal. He knows instantly when I'm uncomfortable or not at ease. He knows when someone else is scared or doesn't like him. He leaves them alone unless they get aggressive towards us or get within a few feet of us, then he lets them know that they are not welcome any closer.

This same GF had a male Shitsu, Bud, I loved him, had the balls of a dog 50 times his size. I always thought (and still do) he was crazy... She lived up in the Pocono mountains in a little development in a heavily wooded area. Lots of dogs live outside on a chain up there, and Bud used to love to torment them any time he was off leash... Well one day taking our walk he pissed this black lab off for the 100th time and it broke loose. I thought rut ro, bye bye Bud... Here he comes through the woods at WOT for us (for protection) with the lab on his heels. Sophie comes out of no where runs between them and just stood there with her head lowered and fur up. I dunno what she said to that lab, but he stopped and decided to go back to his dog house.. It was really something, the whole thing lastd about 12 seconds.

This thread started out with Wildgeechi sharing his new dog with the forum members. Thanks WG, good stuff for sure.

The pictures of those two poor animals ripping and tearing at one another is so sad, inappropriate and probably against most state laws. Where are the moderators and why are they allowing this forum to be brought down to the lowest level of humanity? Anyone posting pictures like these or anyone not bothered by these pictures needs to consider some professional help.

Shame on you THT!!

Wow... how very sad that a happy thread about a new puppy turned into a pissing match over stun guns, firearms and fighting dogs.

Enjoy your new puppy

It's more of a one sided attack on my breed choice and motives. I wish he'd leave.

I won't respond to his posts any longer

My pup is busy sleeping 23 hours a day, eating for 15 minutes, bone chewing for 15 minutes, Pizzing & Krapping for another 30 and that's it! Sometimes on chipmunk and squirrel, rabbit patrols.

All Eyeball posts deleted.

If you try to de-rail this thread again, consider yourself de-railed.

Of course, in full disclore - mod 2 grew up with a pair of German Shepards to protect the home.
