Default Murder 3 Houses From Mine

My wife calls me last night to tell me that something must be up at the neighbors house, couple of troopers there, this morning she calls me and tells me there is crime scene tape around the house. Then we find out my neighbor was murdered in the house last night by a family member, allegedly. I live in a farm community and 3 houses away is 1 mile, to give you an idea. So this is big stuff where I live..

Kind of unnerving when you travel.

SHARON SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Authorities are investigating a homicide in the Schoharie County village of Sharon Springs while the son of the victim has been arrested in another state.
Crime scene tape surrounded 524 Staleyville Road in the village Tuesday afternoon while the vehicles of several State Troopers were parked outside.
What exactly happened inside the home, however, is still a mystery.
All police would say is that they were investigating the suspicious death of 63-year-old George King.
“Currently there is an autopsy being conducted and we're in the preliminary stages of the investigation,” a Trooper told NEWS10.
Neighbors say King lived in the home alone and told NEWS10 of a large police presence there Monday evening.
Unfolding over Tuesday afternoon was the hunt for King’s son, 37-year-old Gerry King.
Police had said that the younger King was wanted for questioning.
By late Tuesday afternoon, however, it was learned that Gerry King was placed under arrest, with criminal charges expected. The nature of those charges remains unknown.
Gerry King was apprehended by state police in Connecticut. He was believed to be traveling to the state with his girlfriend, Jolene Henderson.
NEWS10 stopped by Henderson’s mother's home on Tuesday. She was not there, but her neighbors say police had been by the house several times looking to speak to anyone who may have seen Gerry King.
The investigation is ongoing.
Sharon Springs is located about 50 miles west of Albany.

At least it wasn't a random act.

We had some excitement Monday night when a guy swiped a kid from a local hospital. His vehicle was spotted and chased into our neighborhood and he rammed a police car and ran. There were helicopters and police cars swarming the area most of the night. The guy was found in someone's backyard Tuesday morning by the dogs. This was about 1/4 mile from my house. Scary crap.

Sorry to hear that, but I know how you feel.
We had a murder -suicide in my neighbor hood in June. Young mother shot and killed her child and then took herself out. Very sad

I live in the country too.
Last Tuesday we had a high speed chase end just a mile down the road from me....it passed right by my house. The chase was about 50 miles through four counties and reached speeds well in excess of 100 mph. Twice tac strips were deployed and failed to do their job. Although with the second deployment they did cause the driver to swerve and loose control of the stolen GMC SUV. The SUV rolled several times before slamming into a mature White Birch tree and punching in the passenger side. The vehicle continued to roll after wiping out the tree and came to rest on the driver side some 40' away. The dust had not settled from the spectacular crash when the driver jumped out of the broken passenger side window and fled by foot with cops in pursuit. The crash happen in a rural farmland community with the crops harvested and therefore there was little to no hiding places for the car thief. The thief managed to run to a neighboring farm and hide in a small camping trailer that was stored behind the owners barn (friends of mine). The car thief was peppered sprayed and handcuffed without incidence.

Man was there a lot of cops involved...there had to be at least 40 police vehicles and double that in officers.

We rarely if ever have any police patrol out in my neck of the woods. We have lots of problems. In fact I saw someone complain about getting pulled over cuz he was totin old tires in his truck. Can relate to the concerns of getting pulled over and having to justify but wish more of that happend out our way.
One of my childhood friends just around the block (the block is nine miles) was murdered in his living room while his wife and 1 yo son were home. The creeps took her purse and left him to die.
They didnt know who killed him until 10 years later someone bragged at the gym about killing a state district representatives nephew. Turns out the f-wads rode aroung the country 'til they picked a house to invade at random. I struggle with randomness of things now..Like of all the houses they could have picked????They rode 35 miles and picked Kenny...State champ high school wrestler, good guy, young family, working man, never involved with trouble and general good dude. Why?

Where I live the police publish what days they will be going on patrol so everyone can be prepared -- usually days with a "1", the 1st, 11th, and 21st, but never the 31st of the month. They are there to "serve" -- that's what they are out doing, serving the public. It's cops all over, walking, driving, some directing traffic just to have something to do. But the best part is to be by the police HQ at 10am when they are all heading back -- looks like a parade of cops coming in from every direction.

We have no crime, to speak of, expect the occasional bicycle theft that is really more like borrowing a bicycle. Since drinking any alcohol and driving has such a heavy penalty, businessmen occasional come out of a bar at night, grab an unlocked bicycle and head to the train station. Stolen, or "borrowed" bicycles can almost always be found parked at the train station.

Your sig says you live in NY, that must be a mistake. You MUST live in Jacksonville- what seems to be the murder capital! I dont even watch the news anymore, seems between the child molesters, child snatchers, general sexual predators and murderers, that about fills the news hour.

Not to get off topic but have you ever gone to that sexual predator website and put in your zipcode??? If you have kids I would ASAP. VERY SCARY!!! (again, at least here in Florida!)

I am in rural Delaware. It used to be we could leave the house unlocked and the keys in the car and leave home for the day. Now with taxes in PA and NJ all them are moving down for the low taxes and cheap homes but bringing their crime and problems with them...

I came home one morning to see a ton of police in front of a home right down the block. The lady who lived their was the mother in law and mother of a couple that we knew and we had just hung out with a few days earlier at another friends home. Come to find out the lady was murdered by her son in law who had been helping her move some stuff. He beat her to daeth as her son was sleeping down the hall. The whole thing was crazy at first because they did not know if the son in law was victim or the murderer. They finally came out and said he killed the mother in law and was on the run. The daughter/wife now had to deal with her mothers death and that her husband was the killer. They caught him after a week or so and I think he served 11 years.

Many years ago when I was growing up some SOB murdered my grandmother. She was blind and lived alone in NYC and the bastard robbed her and slit her throat. I remember what it did to my family especially my mother. Somethings you just cant get out of your head.

I have done that and the results were often addresses that do not exist. I'm not sure it's worth the trouble.

BTW: Why is it that sexual offenders are supposed to register but murderers do not have to?

I've always wondered why we feel murders and non-sex crimes can be rehabilitated and don't require tracking, but any sex related charge you can never ever "pay your due" and put it behind you. And there are the inevitable cases of 18 year old "sex offenders" for sleeping with their 17 year old gf... screwed for life for doing something almost all of us have done

About 10-15 years ago a young girl 8'ish was snatched from the local grocery store. When the sheriff put out the call it also went to the volunteer fire guys. 100 guys in pickup trucks hit the road. The guy's car with the girl in it unharmed was found 10 miles away in about 30 min. There were 10 pickup trucks and 1 deputy's car surrounding it and no sign of the bad guy. Nobody talks about it. Just sayin'
