Default Sat. internet

I recently switched from dial-up to Wildblue Sat. service. The speed thing is outstanding, except when it rains even a little bit. I'm lucky if it just slows down, most often I lose it completely. My question is: Why doesn't the Sat. T.V. go out like the Sat. internet? Both dishes are side by side. My neighbor has Hughs Sat. service and has no problem staying connected or slowing down. Wildblue acts like this is normal when I call.

Could be that an interruption in the TV signal just breaks up your reception for a second but the stream is still valid when it resumes. With data there are packet sizes and checks to make sure that the data sent is fully received - otherwise the computer at your end doesn't know how to handle it. So a second or two interupption for data transfer has much more impact that video streaming.

Just one theory.

It could also be that the internet dish is a degree or two off.

It could also be that sat internet sucks when it rains. Just like Directv.

Right.

I have wildblue and it is VERY weather dependent. More so than Direct TV.

Here's another problem, we are also weather dependent on other locations as well. In other words, everytime I do something it travels through Syracuse NY and Houston TX as well as up to the satelitte and and back, so if the weather sucks in Syracuse or Houston, my service slows down.

Don't ask me to explain, I can't figure how its as fast as it is with all that travel involved.
