Generally that will get you real close, but more importantly it depends on the height of the rings over center bore for your scope.

good point. If a gun has see-through rings or high mounts for 56mm scopes, I guess you'd have to extend the short distance from 25' to...what, 40'?

Im not sure but I believe the 25 to 100 rule works with low standard height rings.

Keep in mind that is just to get on the paper and is fairly correct however if you are off 1" at 25 yards you will be off 4" at 100 yards, just gets you close for sighting in
