Mike , Man I miss Hangin and bangin Iron .

What Rigs do ya operate ?

The biggest I have worked with is a LAMPSON LT900 up at Edwards AFB for all of 1991 [6-12's , that was a GOOD year] we also had 3 more Crawlers in front of the 900 , we had a 3900,4000 and a 4100 Manitowoc and I actually have a picture of all 3 WORKING SIDE BY SIDE on the test stand.
If I can find it I'll post it.

I never intended to make fun of or said you were over paid. However, that being said I can garauntee that one day you are going to wish you had that money back. $1100 is an obscene amount of money to pay for any eye glasses. $700 for shades, just because thay are expensive does not make them the best. I understand your requirements, one word POLARIZED!

Dropping your glasses out of your pocket, simple solution, KEEP'EM ON YOUR NOSE!!!!!!

Welder, I just switched jobs, I presently run a 2006 60 ton Grove hydraulic. The guy just put an order in for a 2010 250 ton Liebherr, that will be mine. Spent the last year and a half running a 1997 175 ton Krupp, These all are all-terrain cranes, easier to transport for daily rentals.

Its hard to get real big rigs over the bridges with out massive amounts of trucks, so tower cranes are more commonly used also because real estate is cheaper in hight. Never the less its a rare site to see more then one crane on a site, the city doesn't usually allow it. The other problem with the big crawler rigs is unless it can raise its own boom once rigged it cant be used, there is a code "No assist crane cane be used to raise another cranes boom".

The best machines as you know are those 3900's and 4100's Manitowoc you speak of,but there getting old so the pencil pushers making the laws want them out as well, No free fall lines. There are only a few of them in the city with tower conversions.

I must admit I don't mind the tilting cabs with a/c and stereo's when it comes to sitting in the same position for a minimum of eight hours a day, which it is common to sit in for 14 hrs straight.

The worst part of running an older machine is that the city is on a tear righting tickets, one little leak can cost the operator a $7000 unsafe operator ticket and put a stop work order on the machine, cell phone ticket is $8000.

Brother don't sweat it, wasn't insulted at all Thank you for your suggestion and reply.

But you did miss the point I think, I agree and was hoping someone could give a suggestion on another good made set of glasses,my eyes were still blurry after all the drops they put in them when they had me picking out the frames. Then when I was paying I couldn't even see the breakdown, The damn writing was too small for blurry vision, So I gave them $1100 deposit.

Thats why I posted it here, because there has to be some guy's with good ideas.

I cant wait to see what the are charging for the lenses, never the less the frames.

On the shades I will also look into Kaenon prescription, I wanted to here someone got them for less and the store was over charging me.

Blackfin - I'd interested on your comparison of the MJ lenses and the REVO lenses -- which do you like better after looking through them in bright sunlight for hours?
Looking directly in the sun today with the Maui jims today hurt, could do it anytime with the Revo's. Revo's definitely are better! Also scratched the IC frames, and found out my lenses are so expensive because they are new technology, DIGITAL progressive, transition lenses. OH BOY, will be scratching the digital tomorrow.

IC Berlin does make a very nice and lightweight frame. I think they are very similar to a line that I carry in my optical called Mykita and use a titanium sheet metal with no screws or solder points to wear out. The new progressive lenses using digital technology(free form lenses) are absolutely better than previous technology, long time wearers will think the progressive or bifocal portion has been left off initially because the peripheral vision will be that much better than older technology. I carry basic frames made in China all the way up to handmade eyewear using exotic woods and buffalo horn that run anywhere between $500 - $2000 for a frame. I have people that come back 2 and 3 years later with their frame(lenses too) looking just like the day it left my office, there are differences in quality and usually the price is tied to that difference(just like everything else in this world). One of my favorite frames in the lower to medium price range are Nike Flexon - very comfortable and durable. Oliver Peoples and Paul Smith make great quality frames that are extremely durable. Lindberg and Silhouette both make frames that are featherweight but hold up to a lot of wear and tear.

The bottom line is you need to trust who you are working with. It sounds like you are in a place that keeps up with technology and offers quality eyewear. If the office will stand behind the product they sell and you feel comfortable, enjoy taking one of the senses that people tell me is the most important to them and making it the best it can be.

i've had best luck with ray bans, both as sunglasses and regular (distance vision). plastic frames work best for me and also seem to be the most comfortable.

i always lose them before they break...actually, i've never had a pair of ray bans break.

just ordered 2 pair last night at lenscrafters...about $400 for both with discount for my company's vision plan (eye med)...got upgraded uv and polarized lens.

I have been told by the place that gave me the exam, that IC Berlin are one of the best, indestructible frames.
