My son had H1N1 a few weeks ago....lasted about 2 days with mild respiratory symptoms. I do take the seasonal flu vaccine every year but will not be taking the H1N1...same for my family/staff (I am a dentist). I administer the seasonal vaccine to everyone in my office that wants it but the lack of severity of the H1N1 for non high risk groups a long with the rush to produce without following the normal development cascade has made my decision. Vaccines are important but risks have to be weighed vs many things including your health and the severity of what the vaccine is aimed to prevent. Not interested in debating it but thought I would give an opinion as I am on the front lines of exposure and vaccination. I see pratitioners on both sides of this.....you have to make up your own mind and whether you take it or not do the research yourself and ignore the hoopla and media.

At least I got you to post something actually relevant to the discussion. Your belief is that there is data and evidence to support getting the vaccination. By the way.... can you give us a link to some of that data? I'd be very surprised if there is any substantial factual data this early in the vaccination's release. Welcome to the discussion!

Well,
I got the H1N1 vaccine yesterday, so far so good. I have had the regular Flu vaccine several times before so I am really not worried. I deal with so many transients, drug users and abusers along with general public contact I got it as a precaution. My heart goes out to anyone with a child that has an issue with the shot.

One time at a Home Owner Assoc. meeting while everybody was standing up saying what they did for a living, I told them I deal in drugs, prostitution, burglary and an occasional armed robbery and some various other sorted illegal activities. The room got very quiet with people looking at each other for a uneasy 5 to 10 seconds or so, till I dropped the other foot... It was pretty funny to watch all the expressions on their faces... My neighbor busted out laughing...

ok... first off, the ride to the dr office is probably 50x more dangerous than the shot. Walking up the stairs is more dangerous that the shot, riding a bike is more dangerous than the shot... we all allow our kids to do this stuff every day.

Some truths:
-Single dose vials (shots) contain no mercury.
-Multiple dose vials contain mercury.
-The shot is made the exact same way that the seasonal flu shot is made, just with the proper strain of virus.
-If H1N1 hit earlier last year, it would have been included in the same shot as the seasonal shot.

Many of this years shots were ordered in the single shot form.

There is no voodoo going on here.

Got this in an email this morning, not sure what to beleive any more...

"The government cannot give anything to anyone that it does not first take
from someone else."
I am forwarding this information for your consideration. The prevailing consensus is that all people should be cautious about signing up for H1N1 flu shots
until more information is available. If possible get the nasal vaccine.
This doctor recommends that NO ONE SHOULD TAKE THE VACCINE.
Read his comments and make your own decision.

Subject: DR. RUSSELL BLAYLOCK ON SWINE FLU
This is an email sent to a friend of Dr. Blaylock and is now being
forwarded to anyone interested. Please pass it along. Also note the
attached biography of Dr. Blaylock. Dr. Blaylock is a board
certified neurosurgeon, author and lecturer. He attended the LSU
School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed his general surgical
internship and neurosurgical residency at the Medical University of
South Carolina in Charleston, SC.
No one should take this vaccine (Swine Flu vaccine) it is one of the
most dangerous vaccines ever devised. It contains an immune adjuvant
called squalene (MF-59) which has been shown to cause severe
autoimmune disorders such as MS, rheumatoid arthri tis and Lupus.
The newsletter for August covers this.
This is the vaccine adjuvant that is strongly linked to the Gulf War
syndrome, which killed over 10,000 soldiers and caused a 200%
increase in the fatal disease ALS (Lou Gehreg disease). This virus
H1N1 kills by causing a cytokine storm, which means that it cause
the body's immune system to overreact and that is why it is killing
young people and is a mild disease in the elderly. (The elderly have
weakened immune systems.) This vaccine is a very powerful immune
stimulator and carries the real possibility of making the lethality
of the virus much greater.
One's best protection is vitamin D3.. One should take 5000 IU a day now and when the disease
begins to spread increase the dose to 15,000 IU a day. Vitamin D3
modulates the immune reaction, reducing the chance of an
overreaction and stimulates the body to produce what are called
antimicrobial peptides, which are powerful killers of viruses that
does not involve immunity. This is dose related, which means the
higher the dose of vitamin D3 the better the protection. Fish oils
(the best is Carlson's Norwegian lemon flavored fish oil) also
reduce immune overreaction. One teaspoon a day should be sufficient.
For severe symptoms, one teaspoon twice a day. Antioxidants of
various kins also help this includes, quercetin, curcumin,
grapeseed extract, vitamin C, and natural vitamin E. A good
multivitamin/mineral such as Extend Core (
www.vrp.com < http://www.vrp..com/> ) is also
essential.
Feel free to spread this around. People need to know how to protect
themselves.

Furthermore, "adjuvants" such as MF-59 Squalene, etc, are NOT APPROVED for use in the USA, last I heard anyway. Therefore, it is not in the H1N1 vaccine.

This is anecdotal but I am told that most of the doctors at Mayo are refusing the vaccine.

Thanks again and my apologies for being a buzz-kill. I'll get back to boating topics
