Apparently you are confused and are buying Trojan party balloons. I will give you credit for getting them on, Capt Pencil Johnson.

I own two businesses and manage a third.

I own a family started Income Tax and Bookkeeping service, started by my grandmother in 1941 and I am 3rd generation owner. I have been doing taxes since I was 15 yrs old(way back before computers)

Also about 10 years ago I "inherited" my Dad's teenage driving school, he had reached and age where he was tired of the business part and just wanted a paycheck so I got into the Drivers Education business, something I never thought I would, it is a good little part time job and I really enjoy working with the teenagers.

I also have worked for a family friend for the past 24 1/2 years in a commercial painting business. I went to work with him right out of college unitl I found "something else" and he was a young business and it worked out great with the family tax business. We have been together ever since. I handle most of the estimating a lot of the business end of it and the owner manages the crews. However we are heading into the worse stretch of business that I have ever seen. The commercial end of construction is being hit very very hard right now and a lot of commercial contractors in our area are closing doors left and right so we are holding our breath for the next few months. We have guys on unemployment right now which is something we have NEVER done in the last 24 1/2 years.

Downside is I have a lot of small bookkeeping clients in the construction industry as well and they are all in the same shape and looking at my bookkeeping billings today was scary knowing that a lot of them can not afford to pay us right now (heck we know what their bank accounts and payables look like so not much I can say but try and help them stay afloat)

I own a construction company that services the heavy capacity weighing industry. Truck scales, railroad scales etc... concrete foundations for such. Been doing this solely for 20 years. We now have a small fleet of portable truck scales that we rent monthly.

Partnership with my brother and we are still the boots on the ground. Travel the entire east coast. I started the business and I'll end the business. No succession plan. Don't have anyone to give the business to. Besides, I don't want loved ones doing what I do.

Halfmoon, my son is in his 3rd year with UPS and loves it, he does the am loading shift and also works part time at Dicks.

I am amazed at the benefits he has, but according to those that I know that have worked their those boys earn every penny of it
