The links that Islander put up, to me, showed the kind of indescretion that an intense rivalry may induce. Knocking a helmet off happens all the time, as do late hits and throwing the opponents on the ground after the bell. Intentionally reaching your fingers through the facemask, well after the whistle is more of a premeditated act, for which there really is not excuse.

The fact still stands that the thug tried to hurt someone. Whether it be by punching, kicking, or gouging the end result is the same. It is against the law and rules.

He should be banned from collegiate sports forever and should be kicked out of school.

If you say that is to harsh then understand this. If a regular student jumped on top of another regular student in an American History class and started trying to gouge the persons eyes out what do you think would happen? That kids ass would be kicked out of school so fast his head would spin. Oh and not to mention the criminal and legal repercussions that would happen to him.

All this rivalry talk is just crazy. The guy committed a wrong and he should pay. Simple as that.
That has got to be one of the dumbest analogies ever. Well done!

Ok. Lets for one moment take what happend and look at it how it should be looked at it. Football has nothing to due with it. X gouged Y's eyes. X should be punished. Simple as that.

As far as Georgia's bad behavior. You are right. It is ridiculous.

To all you other whacko's that think it is remotly OK to do what he did because it was done to him before that or there is some intense rivalry or that's just football then.....

And it should be dealt with harshly to deter any of the other thugs from thinking about doing it!

What I don't understand is this. Years ago, when this rivaly started, nearly 100% of the Florida players came from Florida high schools, and the same for Georgia. Now I'm not AT ALL a college football fan, but don't these colleges, by and large, recruit from out of state? Aren't there Florida kids playing for the Bulldogs and visa versa? So shere does all this passion come from? I know one thing, it drives a HUGE business.

Don't know why the cops didn't just arrest that cat on the spot. I'd like to see that happen in situations like that. THAT might help tone down the level of BS in sports these days.
