Players conduct in both the NCAA and the NFL is way out of control. I dont like all the celebrating that goes on either, what ever happened to just getting up and handing the ball to the referee, now they all have to jump up, act out just because they made a tackle. Football lost its class about 20 years ago..
Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith come to mind. Class.

You guys are missing the big picture. Universities recruit these no discipline retards to go to school with young kids who are at that school to learn. It brings down the education of the school. Get these retards out of our university systems.

Wait where did Emmit go to school? That's right, that school does produce a lot of "thugs". You want to talk about thugs, here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3X60mrYO1UU
Here is the text version:
"Yeah, I don't give a hell. It's about this U, man. I don't give a flyin' you-know-what about a Vol. I don't give a damn! He would do the same thing to me. It's war. They don't give a freakin' you-know-what about you. They will kill you. They're out there to kill you. So I'm 'a kill 'em. You write that in the paper. You write that. You make money off that. No, man, I'm pissed. All y'all take this down. I'm pissed, man. We don't care about nobody except this U. We don't. If I didn't hurt him, he'd hurt me. They were gunnin' for my legs. I'm 'a come right back at 'em. I'm a fuckin' soldier!"

Are you Florida bashers aware of the rivalry between these two teams? Apparently you have never gone to a FL-GA game or been in the atmosphere surrounding the game, otherwise you would understand. I am not praising Brandon's actions, things happen. But since some schools have some dignity and class I would be willing to bet that Brandon will make an unpublic, personal apology if he hasn't already. But then again, Florida only has thugs on their team so that would be the wrong thing to do.

Another example is Joakim Noah. I mean really? What a joke....

We have a bitter rivalry with LSU, but you don't see us doing that crap to each other.

I too am a big Florida fan, and I agree that he should have been suspended longer, but the fact is, this kind of stuff goes on all the time in these games. Spikes was just the guy who got caught, and if you get caught, you should be penalized.
It's not exactly like georgia's players are a bunch of choir boys either:

Regarding Brandon Spikes..... I think he should be suspended for the rest of the season. I suspect that he was not since he's a Senior (I think) and expected to be a top NFL pick next year... in other words... I believe his punishment was made so as not to hurt his future. That and to not hurt UF's chances of another SEC Championship and BCS Championship.

I'm a big GATOR fan but the punishment is a JOKE and sends the wrong message to other players. I sincerely hope the public anger at the meager punishment makes some of the higher ups reconsider their decision and dole out a more appropriate punishment!

There is poor sportsmanship and then there is intent to injure, that was malice intent!

Guy's back in the day football was about hurting the guy across from you. Remember the stories of guys gettin a finger bitten off and the hugh piles of guys jumping on after the play was dead with no flags. What he did was wrong but at one time it was said to be part of the game.

Exactly!

To anybody that is trying to justify someone GOUGING someones eyes out because it is just a good rivalry then you need to get a reality check...

Mattmutt are you for the Mutts?

That is my guess, there was plenty of stuff going on during the game by the Mutts as well, 17 out of 20 speaks volumes.

In defense of Brandon Spikes, how many of you been in a similar situation? We (the fans) place these young men in positions where lines are blurred.

Heck, take a look at the "professionals" in the NFL. Many of them do the same thing, only they get away with it.

As I have said before, Ms. Brown certainly does not represent the University of Florida. She may in fact be intelligent, yet her lack of enunciation and grammar reveals a much lower standard.

I, for one, can say with confidence that I have never been put in the situation of wanting to thrust my fingers into the eyes of an opponent during a game, but maybe that's just me.

She may also be the 2010 Rose Bowl Queen but I'm gonna say no to both.
