Just for the heck of it, here is an email I received from the seller:

All my CDs are original and brand new. Never used or registered. They come in the yellow packaging sleeves, there is no card board box but everything else is there.
We can either meet up if your willing to pick up or I can ship. I have several secure payment methods. I accept checks (post-dated also), paypal.com, credit cards, money orders or any other method you wish......... There will be a 5% fee for paypal to cover their services. I ship from coast to coast weekly. The cost is $160 for either a complete set of version 2 series or $260 for the new version 3, levels 1,2 and 3 set.

The retail value of Level 1 is $259, level 2 is $279 and level 3 is $299 retail value so you will SAVE A LOT. The difference between the 2 versions is that the 2009 V3 is more interactive and has a better format and pictures. It also has voice recognition and you can even talk back and forth to the computer at the milestone test. If you can afford to spend the extra $100 for the newer version, I would recommend it but if money is tight, the version 2 edition is still the #1 rated program in effective language learning. There is also a $10 charge for TRACEABLE MAIL Shipping and company insurance to replace it instantly if lost in transit.

Since my prices are low already, I can not give away free headsets like retail shops, BUT if you want one which is not required but recommended, you can buy a perfect headset at wal-mart for $10.

Make sure you tell me if you need mac or Microsoft windows edition program.

If you have any questions or are ready to order simply reply to this email. If you wish to talk to me, I can provide my cell phone number at your request but I am really busy this month training to be a fireman..

FREE 24/7 TECHNICAL SUPPORT FOR PAST AND PRESENT CUSTOMERS. NO WAIT!!!!

NOTE: the only thing missing is the headset and the cardboard box., everything else is there exactly as it would come from a retail store.

Hurry there is a limited supply of Rosetta Stone Sets at this price. Orders are reserved on a first come, first served basis.

I buy these sets wholesale from the Rosetta Stone Kiosk workers who earn ten free sets every month. Rosetta Stone secretly gives away ten sets per employee every month to give to friends or families as an advertisement tactic.

Is this what they don't want you to know??? By the way, I looked at my discs again. I've seen counterfeit discs from around the world. Usually they have some flaw such as paper labels and such. These discs appear completely genuine. As stated above, they are completely registerable.

So where's the harm ? If they don't like their own policy maybe they should change it instead of harassing customers.

My .02.

Now let's see how THT handles this.

You are quite correct. My phone number is quite available. My advertising would be somewhat useless without it. However, you don't see my last name anywhere. That's private information.

His going to the trouble to either do the research himself or have his minions do it was simply the first level of intimidation.

It was his way of saying, "we know who you are".

Subtle, but just the first of his attempts to dominate me.

I worked as a private investigator for well over thirty years including twenty years with my own agency. I pretty much know this game.

I don't know whether this guy is some "junior" attorney, or a paralegal or the head of their legal department. Whoever he is, he's a bit of a DA. Let's face it, the internet runs pretty much on anarchy.

How in the world did he think that trying to intimidate me into removing my post was his best course of action? I mean he's violating some pretty simple tenets which leads me to believe he's probably just some lower level dude. Who knows, maybe he's the CEO's son, just out of law school.

All he's done is draw more attention to my post and made his company look like bullies.

Razz, "he" probably went back to any and all references, past posts and links on this board and put it together. Gotta be like my old partner and not ever say nuthin' to nobody about nothin'. His kids didn't even know where he worked, much less his friends and neighbors.

I worked as a civilian for the Dept. of the Army and I had access to the Rosetta Stone series as well. I took them for fun for a little bit and felt like I was learning. I'm not sure they are worth $2k, that price blows my mind. I would have thought they were a couple of hundred bucks, not thousands.

I know a guy named Tony who sells coppies factory direct out of the back of his van for $50 bucks. If you PM me I'll tell you which underpass to go meet him at.

I'm not hard to find. It's not like I'm on the lamb or something. But it does take some extra effort. In a corporation, time is money. So Rosetta Stone is spending corporate money for intimidation purposes.
