I think there's a BIG difference between "craze" and practical need. The parents of the baby boomer age and the aging baby boomer age are not getting any younger and more limber. I know my father-in-law (86 yrs. old) has cracked/ broken two toilet seats at my place, both Very Good seats.......he can only bend so far and then he drops, hence why the seats are cracking/ breaking. Also, what about those that are over weight? I think the comfort height has a very real practical side to them.
If there is a down side to them, shorter people’s feet won’t be able to touch the floor.

The closer you are to the ground, and the closer you are to a squatting position, the better off you are health wise. Countries who sit on thrones have high rates of hemorrhoids, countries who squat do not

Sorry but if one had a proper diet they could crap their pants standing up, so I'm not buying into that one!
