Default Newspaper's, online or still read hardcopy

Just wondering how many here still subscribe to the daily local newspapers in your town.

I guess I am old school in that I like to read the paper first thing in the am while having a cup of coffee but I did not realize so many people now just read it online.

Guess old habits are hard to break

Just can not get into reading a computer screen for the news, local sports and also like to go through the obitiuaries each day, My Dad always said as you get older you look at the headlines then go straight to the obitiuaries and then the sports and news

Other than coming on here and other forums, if I want to relax, kick back and read something, it has to be in print. For some reason the web just isn't as relaxing or easy to read as a book or the paper.

Mostly on-line during the week, and hardcopy on weekends.

Nothing like sharing the Sunday paper with the Admiral and some good coffee.

The same here, my sister reads it online but I just do not like that. Besides kind of aggrevating to take a lap top to the throne

I read the news for information, not for liesure. Why in the world would I pay for information that is provided for free? I don't even have to walk to the end of the driveway on those cold mornings if I get the news online. Maybe it would be different if I lived in a small town where the local news wasn't so readily availible online.

I only buy newspapers to light the charcoals for the grill or to lay on the table when we are picking crabs. They still do have a limited function.

Sometimes the paper will sit out there till wine time. Online is lazy nice as you can peruse a half dozen papers in a sitting. Printed version is headed in the direction of the house phone, not used much.

I read two papers daily but still spend an hour plus a day online reading. Wish I bought that Gannett stock when it was $3. though. It seems there is a bit of light at the end of the tunnel for the newspapers. I hope so, I have several friends in the industry and life is very stressful for them right now.

From May to October when I am on the boat most of the time, I buy the paper.
I find that you read more with a print paper. I read the full stories and more of them.

Online I tend to just scan stuff, maybe read a paragraph or two.

Just cancelled my home delivery this week, tired of having all of that paper going to waste and me having to recycle it, easier to just not have it delivered. I always enjoyed the Sunday Boston Globe but over the past year the newspaper has turned into a weekly flyer, shrinking every week, and at $3.50 simply isn't worth it

I get hardcopies all week of the local and thurs-sun for the Statewide paper. Like to have something in hand where there is so Inetrnet and can't look at a screen too long without gettting problems - headaches, anxiety and visual issues). Also like to suport the Journalism - having worked for the State Government I can tell you without a good 4th estate many consumer safeguards will be lost ( investigating and uncovering corruption in the government and business, politicians and others). Also Blogs are not peer reviewed - basically have no standards - anything goes.

We can get the thurs -Sun Hartford Courant for about $2. a week.

Kindle with wireless daily delivery! Don't particularly like reading on the laptop, but love it on the Kindle. Can't get delivery of hard copy where I live. I get the local weekly in hard copy, and would prefer to get a hard copy of a major metro Sunday paper because I enjoy that experience. If I head in to town on Sunday for breakfast, I will buy a hard copy even though I get the Kindle version also.
