Depending on what the speed was it can cost him insurance points for usually 3 years.

$1,500? Holy cow. Like GWcpa said, in NC you can usually get the attorney AND the fines paid for less than $300-$400. Sometimes you can call the DA and see if they will reduce it to a "non insurance point" conviction. In NC, a PJC, Improper Equipment, and 10 or less over are all non-chargeable.

$1500, holy crap. Just paid an attorney $50 (fifty) to reduce a 79 in a 65 to improper equipment in Iredell Cty, NC.

Wife just got out of District court this a.m. 72/55 reduced to improper equipment. Paid attorney $250, fine $111. May not have even needed an attorney.

County gets $$, attorney gets $$, citizen satisfied for not getting points. Basically it is a toll for speeding.

maybe if they would stop cutting deals in court everytime someone walks in with a speeding ticket, then the fear of a ticket would actually cause people to slow down and respect the posted speed limits.

I hear you Idiot, and if the legislators could invent something better than capitol punishment or the death penalty or something, anything harsher than those two formal sanctions for murder in the first degree convictions, there would be no more homicides, I know, I know, the system is broken . . .

invent something better than the death penalty? no. just carry it out swiftly and not let people sit on death row long enough for the law to be changed. ie: Charles Manson

The Lawyer walks into court, hands the tickets to the ADA and they reply with the reduction, not more then a couple minutes work, My old (haven't got caught in a long time) Lawyer would charge the price of the tickets (what they should be) as his fee.

If I didn't know lawyers, I would go down to the court and hire one already there. Just don't let them take advantage of you.

Don't hire them from craigslist

Good luck

When the judge asks you why you were going 90 in a 70 mile per hour zone just tell him you weren't going to be out for an hour.

It's this Simple...............

If your going to play , your going to pay.

Now I'm going to forward this Thread to your Insurance Co. [ Just Kidding ]

It just cracks my up when someone gets a ticket and then they think their special and above the law.

Every Ticket I Got I deserved and I'm proud of them , Exhibition of acceleration, Exhibition of Speed, reckless driving , Failure to yield right of way, Failure to stop, excessive noise, Tires past fenders, and a few more .
All that was before 18 , Dang hot rod 56 ford P/U . All of my Hot Rodding was done on sweet roads with no traffic [ Except for them Pesky Sheriffs officers that were always skulking around ] and usually at night . OCIR had grudge night on Wen nights back then but work got in the way on wen. nights .

If someone broke into your house would you want their lawyer to get them off saying they were just borrowing a pillow or something.

you have to make nice with police and court workers then things have a way of fixing themselves.

7 tickets all speeding in 4 months back in 1987 no record no fine no loss of license. I also have not had any at fault accidents in 31 years. and I am not in Law Enforcement.

If you drive below the speed limit you probably are going to get rear ended someday

a lawyer for a speeding ticket is absurd. The only chance you have of that working is the lawyer better be friendly with that police dept court officer. that is the direction you should be looking not a lawyer.
