Dear Virtual Sailors,

Virtual Regatta offers you another opportunity to don your oilskins and board a 68 foot clipper for another race around the world. The second leg of the Clipper 09-10 Round the World Yacht Race, between la Rochelle and Rio de Janeiro, sets off this Tuesday, September 22!

This is the only around the world race which, step by step, is open to all. The crews are composed of a professional skipper and a crew of amateur, or even novice, sailors.
14 stages spread over ten months are scheduled to race according to the following schedule:

Leg 1: FINISHED, linked Humber (UK) - La Rochelle (France)

Leg 2 : 22 September 2009 La Rochelle - Rio de Janeiro(Brazil)

Leg 14: 9 July 2010 Ijmuiden – Humber (UK)

This attractive event covers a total distance of about 35 000 miles around the planet!
Like the Volvo Ocean Race, your final score is the sum of your 11 best finishing score, your three worst stage scores will be discarded from the overall score. Go ahead, join the race!

No course marks will restrict your choice of route, so let your imaginations go!

Fair winds to all,
Team Virtual Regatta

only two sails to use unless you buy them. Is this the same VOR or is it a take-off that will be competing with the VOR when it starts?

In at 14510 Just to be sure, is this the same race except that Volvo and a Sail supplier are no longer sponsoring?

Wonder if they'll allow the free sails or whether we'll need to buy them.
