Join the Clipper 09-10 Round the World Yacht Race!
Dear Virtual Sailors,
Remember, how in late spring, you bristled with anticipation; the last leg of the virtual Volvo Ocean Race was about to begin. Virtual Regatta offers you another opportunity to don your oilskins and board a 68 foot clipper for another race around the world. The second leg of the Clipper 09-10 Round the World Yacht Race, between la Rochelle and Rio de Janeiro, sets off this Tuesday, September 22!
This is the only around the world race which, step by step, is open to all. The crews are composed of a professional skipper and a crew of amateur, or even novice, sailors.
14 stages spread over ten months are scheduled to race according to the following schedule:

This attractive event covers a total distance of about 35 000 miles around the planet! Like the Volvo Ocean Race, your final score is the sum of your 11 best finishing score, your three worst stage scores will be discarded from the overall score. Go ahead, join the race!

Tuesday, September 22 at 09h00 BST Arrival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
No course marks will restrict your choice of route, so let your imaginations go! The finish line will close on Monday, October 26th at 19h00 BST. If you have not completed the course, your boat will automatically be moved to Rio de Janeiro, and your position will be the one you had just before teleportation.
