By the way - it was reported early this morning on ESPN2 that the Duck was talking trash before the game; guess he didn't like the Bronco reminding him of that after all was said and done. Takes a pop at a guy without a helmet, then dances away. He's gone for the year - good riddance.

Call me crazy, but based on the way he acted, I think a urine test is in order, if you know what I mean.

Besides, suspension or no suspension, that punch would have cost him a trip to at least round 6 or greater.

He needs to be held accountable for his own actions and accept personal repsponsability. If he were my player, I too would have tossed him for the season, and no, I would not let him practice with the team either. When a team has a cancer, you need to cut it out.

He should have thought about his NFL prospects BEFORE throwing the punch.
Perfectly said. If I were in charge of disciplined, he would be completely off the team and possibly out of the remainder of his scholarship. Regardless of what the other guy said to him, you don't sucker punch someone.

The Oregon Coach has announced Blount will not play in any more games the rest of this season. (Includes any bowls) He keeps his scholarship and can practice with the team, but he will not play.

I am a Univ. of Oregon Alumni. Grew up in Eugene. I just spoke with my brother who still lives in Eugene and he watched Oregon's sorry performance yesterday. He says Blount was kicked off the team during spring training for missing meetings and practices. "Thug" was the word my brother uses for him. His actions on the field were "in character" for him.

-5 yards rushing for Blount. Anemic offense. Thoroughly outplayed and outcoached by Boise State. That Chris Peterson is a good coach. I lived in Boise from 1984 until 2002 and watched a host of very good coaches move up the ranks at Boise State. Peterson is as good as Keotter, Hawkins, or any other predecessors. I still have lots of friends in Boise and they love their Bronco's and the blue turf.

(Until last night, we Oregon fans called Boise State University "A High School with Ashtrays") That used to really piss off the BSU crowd!

Oregon coaching staff is to be commended for removing Blount from play. The conference would have done it for them if they hadn't. The BSU taunter was low class, and it's too bad Chris Peterson doesn't bench him for a game or so.

College football is too good a game to turn the game over to thugs and unsportsmanlike behavior. Good Riddance Blount.

We had sayings while I was atttending the University of Oregon:

"The Ducks can clutch defeat from the jaws of victory at any time."
"No lead is ever safe in the forth quarter." Thus, it is ever so..........

Go Ducks!!!

You have to be kidding me. I would hate to be hit by what you would define as a sucker punch.

I agree .. what did he think was going to happen? You talk sheet to a guy in a bar and push him? what would happen there? would it be a sucker punch then? No.

the same result would have happened, and in court the Boise guy would have been found at fault for initiating contact. Oregon goes free for self defence.

Not saying the guy is not a dirtbag, i dont know him from adam. Im just saying he was provoked and the Boise guy should be out too!

Well, if we're teaching our kids that this is acceptable, I guess we shouldn't be surprised to see it in college.

It wasn't in a bar. It was a collegiate SPORTING EVENT, not a frat party. It was just plain wrong.

You can't just take a red-shirt exemption when it is convenient. If I remember correctly, or at least this was the rule when I was in college, once you begin your athletic career, you have 4 consecutive years to play. In other words, you can redshirt your freshman year and I think they allow hardship red-shirt for injuries but not out of convenience.

Punishment was just. I guarantee this is not the first stupid thing that kid ever did. Don't talk to me about trash talk, I played 4 years of college baseball with plenty of opportunity to fight...and lose my opportunity to play...but didn't. What makes it worse IMO is that the coward sucker punched the other guy while he wasn't looking. The player who threw the punch is simply a coward.

NFL career over? If he is good enough, he will play. Remember, we have murderers, wife beaters, drunks and felons of all types currently in the NFL. This guy throwing a stupid punch won't stop him from playing.

it was no sucker punch, Boise guy got what he deserved imo.

That being said the other guy deserves some penalty - not a whole season though. Suspending him a whole season is waaaay over the top as well imo. There were an awful lot of emotions flying at that moment and that is a fact.

Hey why stop there why not send him to prison.

Come on lets get real.

I agree, I think the entire season is overboard but if I understood the reports this player has had several other issues as well

I saw the video repeatedly, the guy that got hit was not even looking at the other guy. Never saw it coming. Sucker punch from a coward.

Should have been classified as a hate crime too - right?

Black guy punching a white guy. Of all the black guys on the Boise team why did he hit one of the few the white guys?

Do they still have the chair in that neck of the woods?

Hang on, am I allowed to say "neck".

Wait a minute, can I still say "hang?"

Oh, this stuff is just all too confusing. I wish it was just a simple punch-up at the end of a sporting event. You know, like at a rugby game, and then they all go for a few pints afterwards.

True.. I'm just saying there were TWO wrong players here who should BOTH be suspended. Sure one way longer than the other, but there should be suspensions to both.

I am sure this will end up in The Bildge, Menzies started it. Thugs, animals, he will play again, if he is a good enough the nfl will pick him up. Does not matter what you do on or off the field.

I hate to start out by saying..."Back when I played..." but I don't know any other way. Back when I played, there was no trash talking. In football, you wanted to knock the other guy into next week but instead of standing over him screaming trash...you just smiled. Today, you watch a game and it is nothing but constant mouth running. They do it in the pros so the college kids started doing it, then the high schoolers and younger. If I had done that, even in high school, my dad would have whipped my a$$. Today, all the parents want to do is whip the referees a$$.
