I didn't have to. Why wasn't the Bilge good enough for you to post stuff from a political (Briebart) website? There is one Bilge - and its definitely for you. That's where you posted it first - for some reason, right? I doubt most of the rest of the folks want to see posts pulled off of political sites here when they can read all that they want of them in your normal lair.

It is fairly common for groups like Greenpeace to do that. They can make wild azz accusations but are rarely called upon to justify or provide proof of their accusations.

"The outgoing leader of Greenpeace has admitted his organization’s recent claim that the Arctic Ice will disappear by 2030 was “a mistake.” Greenpeace made the claim in a July 15 press release entitled “Urgent Action Needed As Arctic Ice Melts,” which said there will be an ice-free Arctic by 2030 because of global warming.
Under close questioning by BBC reporter Stephen Sackur on the “Hardtalk” program, Gerd Leipold, the retiring leader of Greenpeace, said the claim was wrong.
“I don’t think it will be melting by 2030. … That may have been a mistake,” he said."
Hydro,
There is nothing political about the article. The outgoing leader of Greenpeace is not an elected official. Stephen Sackur, a BBC reporter, is not a government official. The climate of the world, is the climate of the world.
In fact, the climate of the would could care less who's in office, or what is said to a BBC reporter on Brietbart.
You seem to feel that whatever bothers you should be in the bilge. Hence the shrill response. You wish to stifle dockside chat for the rest of the users of THT.
Its likely you have already pushed the "mommy" button and told on the original poster to the moderators. If they move this topic to the bilge, shame on them.
Who says Breitbart is a "political" website? How is it anymore political than NPR? How is this topic any more or less political than golf gloves, or the beer Menzies drinks?

Not that accuracy matters in the global warming debate, but Greenpeace's July 15 press release did not say that the arctic will be ice free by 2030. It said that it could happen as early as 2030. From the article:
Bad news is coming from other sources as well. A recent NASA study has shown that the ice cap is not only getting smaller, it’s getting thinner and younger. Sea ice has dramatically thinned between 2004 and 2008. Old ice (over 2 years old) takes longer to melt, and is also much harder to replace. As permanent ice decreases, we are looking at ice-free summers in the Arctic as early as 2030.
The author could have added, ",or as late as 2099.", instead of assuming that people were smart enough to realize 2030 was just one half of the projected window.
If your doctor told you that you had a terminal illness, and that you might die as early as 90 days, wouldn't you ask him what the outside might be?
