Default Auguste in OBX - - - An Update

[red]FINALLY[/red] I have limited access to the internet. Sorry but this has been a challenge as I am the first to use Pirate Cove’s wireless system . . . hmmmmmm . . . oh well - - - total distance travelled 1506 miles to get here - - - only problem was one flat tire

Monday 10 May - - - arrived at my boatbuilder’s to find most tasks not completed . . . he is quite ill and has been in the hospital

Tuesday 11 May - - - left at 5:10 AM with son Pierre and crossed through USA customs at 7:15 AM with only minor heartburn and all smiles - - - arrived at ArcTekMarine around 4:00 PM. work has advanced well on the tower

Wednesday 12 May - - - everything went well except that it will take two days rather than the planned one day, and we do not know where we will be placing the life raft as it is too heavy for the top of the tower - - - Connecticut is very beautiful country

Thursday 13 May - - - decided to build a rack over the radar to hold the life raft - - - Jim and his partner finished the tower, rocket launcher and other items - - - the wiring was a challenge as Jim installed five different lights on the roof . . . we found at 11:30 PM that the electrical connectors provided by West Marine had an internal short . . . will have to finish wiring on OBX.

Friday 14 May - - - greatest challenge was driving up the “cork screw” to the top level of the George Washington bridge in New York City and then drove through to Virginia border . . . very beautiful country

Saturday 15 May - - - Crossed the Chesapeake Bay bridge and tunnels . . . they stopped oncoming commercial traffic so that we could get through - - - first major brain fart of the trip, we went to Oregon Inlet rather than Pirate’s Cove, problem easily corrected, only 12 extra miles - - - got a police escort to the boat ramp (super friendly trooper) met Bruce W and Paul Buske as they we working on Paul’s boat . . . a truly fantastic ride - - - three hours later we had the tower on the boat and the boat was tied up at my dock, all with the fantastic help of Paul, Bruce and my son Pierre ?

Sunday 16 May to Wednesday 19 May - - - work, work, work - - - finished installing tower, installed new Furuno radar and chart plotted (minor problems fixed) placed VHF antennas on top of the tower and started installing outriggers (Mark Miller and Mike Grzeskiewicz joined in to help Paul, Bruce, Pierre and I . . . parts are missing from one of the outriggers

Thursday 20 May - - - first day of the derby and I am stuck at the dock . . . finished hooking up the VHF and one outrigger installed so we can fish Friday

Friday 21 May - - - started out a little late (I slept in) . . . got to the Oregon Inlet bridge and had an engine running hot , went back in - - - problem is leaking hot water hose which we fixed and were back on the water - - - we developed a major list to starboard which was exaggerated when we accelerated - - - got skunked fishing - - - for the ride back raised the tabs and changed the trim which levelled the boat . . . good ride back through some slop

Saturday 22 May - - - thunder storms so we decided to work on the boat - - - found out that the list in the boat was caused by wrong reading on outdrive trim indicators which meant that when I thought that I was setting the trim correctly (per last year’s experience) I was actually OUT of trim . . . oh well, Volvo will repair - - - Fantastic supper at the awards supper

SPECIAL thanks to Paul Buske who has adopted me and is showing me how to fish the OBX.

I will try to post more info and pics in a couple of days. I just got the last parts so I can install the second outrigger.

Gus,

You didn't mention N.J. What about N.J.? Don't you think it is also beautiful country? Did you go over the Delaware Memorial Bridge. Why didn't you mention my home state?

Signed,

"Insecure"

Were my suspicions correct? Kind of looks like it...

and once again it looks like he can't keep his mouth shut... That is, if it really is Jacko. I truely doubt there are two people on this site that are so much alike..
