Whats the difference between bull running
and bull ridding? by your way of thinking bull riding is as Barbaric as running from the bulls and even more stupid...

I personally will never do it,
however Running from the bulls is a tradition like bull ridding.

People have died ridding bulls in America,
That's as Darwin as running from the bulls.

And how barbaric to have a big cat at home, or a python, or a chimp
a bermese python just killed a 3 year old infant in FL the other day...

Running with the bulls is Darwism, having a 400 pound "beast" at home
its called Freedom.

Americans respect and have pride on their traditions,
the traditions of other civilizations are not as tolerated.

http://www.wsbtv.com/news/13705787/detail.html

Ridding bulls is even more barbaric, trying to
ride and control a wild "beast", at least the bulls in Pamplona
are "free" to roam the streets.

In Portugal they dont kill the bulls, I never went to a show
however some people enjoy it, not everbody likes Nascar...
my uncle was a Wrestler in America, talk about a barbaric "sport".

Boxing is Barbaric too...
great deal of "barbarian" in our society, I like to watch
a good boxing match.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lane_Frost

More people kick the bucket ridding bulls than running from bulls.
just Yahoo:

"Bull ridding deaths",
I switch the TV on and see plenty of barbaric acts, I know most are make believe,
however theres some real ones in the mix.

they have some running from the bulls in Portugal also, however is in small
villages and does not get media attention, I met a few village idiots that broke a few ribs running from the bulls.

How Darwin is to climb Mount Everest or ski and
get hit by a Avalanche? death is a part of the "sport".

Man has run from wild beast for milions of years, only in the last 5000 years or so
they start to ride them.

You need to see what happens to the bulls once they reach the stadium.

I don't like to see when they get to the stadium, some people do, when I was a kid I watch it, we only had 1 channel and sometimes was the only thing on TV,
I respect that for the fact they have done it for so long, in Portugal bull running and bull fighting is almost gone,
the Peta people had the last saying.

In Portugal they get to stick the bull with few dards, just like
gaffing a fish, then they go back to the farm and live a happy life.
in Spain they have pleasure killing the bull, and cutting the ears, Mike Tyson style...

So when I was a kid I could ride horses in the Sand, till this PETA
people come up and said was bad for the animal, because the horse gets too
tired in the sand.

From that day on, you couldn't rent a horse to ride on the beach...

Tarpon fishing is very barbaric also, you play with a fish
for 2 hours that you don't intent to eat, only to see
the tarpon getting eaten by a bull shark most of the times...
One time I was fishing, I was pulling a keeper grouper,
a shark came along an ate the grouper, was such a barbaric scene
and a total disrespect from the shark...

I don't target fish I'm not eating.
just yahoo:
Bull riding rodeo injury's, "no pain no gain"...

Its funny, you guy's worry more with what happens to the animal
than what happens to the people that play with them.

To some people their pet is more important than a human life,
lets face it if man had not disregarded the animal life sure wasn't here today.

People have killed animals for pleasure and for their own safety
since the dawn of times.

I sure would like to see this PETA people when man lived in the wild and was trapping
wild beasts just to stay alive, and most did not get eaten also...

And then there's Alligator/Croc Wrestling...
Peta mentality:
"When Steve Irwin was wrestling crocs I was more worried with the safety of the croc
than the safety of Steve"...

Man will continue to play and harass animals just for fun,
that's what bull running and bull ridding is all about.

When I was 6 my dad was a dairy farmer. He had borrowed a neighbor's bull to breed and kept it in the fenced in field with the rest of the milk cows. One evening another neighbor, my dad's best friend came over to talk over buying a few cows from my dad. They said they were gonna go out to the field and look over a few cows. I asked if I could come, dad said no, I whined and he gave in.
We walked out to the field opened the gate, went in strolled into the field (30 or 40 acres) about 2/3rds to the middle. Dad and his friend were shootin the s#!7 and noticed the bull had come w/in 20 to 25 yrds of us. He said I will go and lead him away. He walked to @ 15 yrds. The bull didnt look aggressive but had his attention full on my dad. Well, he charged, my dad tried to sidestep and got brushed by the bull and fell...It was the most horible thing I ever saw. The neighbor went and grabbed the bull by the ring and pulled its head away but couldnt get the bull from mauling my dad into the ground with his head. I saw my dad try to stand up but he had the wind knocked out of him pretty good. He tried to get to his feet but the bull woud swing around from the neighbor and knock my dad back down. The neighbor yelled to go get my mom and bring a shotgun. I took off running about 500 yards across the field, across the barnyard, thru the lawn, slamming open the bak door to the house. I must have looked horrified. My mom got a 12 ga. and some #6 shot shells and jumped in the pickup and drove out to the field. The neighbor ran down, opened the gate and dove in the door and told my mom to get out there. She drove up and the neighbor loaded up the 12 and shot the bull at @ 10 yards in the hind quarters. The bull didnt change course. My dad grabbed the ring and the bull reared its head up and threw my day 20 feet in the air and he crashed down like a rag doll on the bulls back. Two more shots got his attention from my dad and he left him piled up @ 20 feet away. My mom popped the clutch and rammed the bull broadside with the pickup. Bull never lost his balance. She hit him again and he trotted off like a dog who is prancing back after a retrieve.
4 broken ribs, severe concussion, 2 broken wrists, couple missing teeth, cracked jaw, severe bruising and laerations and 4 weeks in the hospital. Lucky to still have him.
Any imbicile who considers it sporting to tangle with a bull doesn't have his head screwed on straight.

Yup! And consider tangling with one that has horns.

Glad your dad survived it -- too bad you had to see that. I bet it was traumatic as all hell to have to witness that, being a kid or not, especially since it involved family.
