Default Lookd like we have a serial killer on the loose

We have a town in the upstate of SC that has had a 4 people killed in the last week and one other wounded. All appear to have been bound and shot.

One of the lady's killed this week is a teacher at one of the elementary schools here in our town and her husband was the AD/HC of one of the high schools here for 8 years. This is not only terrible thing but is also very scary

I believe the FBI guesstimates there are as many as 50 serial killers loose and active in the US at any given time.

The US has less than 15% of the world's population, and estimated 75% of the world's serial killers. It is politically incorrect to talk about the hugely disproportional demographic of known, modern serial killers.

If you want to look into something that will curl your short hairs, look into the smiley face series of killings/deaths. It is not officially classified as serial killing, some local police investigators think they are, the FBI thinks not, a couple retired NYC homicide investigators think it is a series of killing by a group working interstate.

http://www.bittenandbound.com/2009/0...ystery-photos/

Oh, and speaking of "interstate", the FBI is now front and center on what they believe is hundreds of serial killing done by truckers. Bodies have been found at truck stops, rest stops, and along popular trucking routes. A trucker picks up someone, kills them, dumps the body and goes about their business. If what the FBI is pursing becomes reality, there are serveral trucks doing these killings on a regular bases.

Serial killers working as lorry drivers have murdered 500 women across US

We had a couple operating out of BR a few years ago. Don't worry the local news media and police will soon start putting commercials on TV. They are going to be giving all kinds of clues, shoe size, hieght, personnality. Gonna ask the public for help, please notify us if you recognise anyone meeting the description. Next dang thing you know is every jilted girlfriend, pissed of ex-wife and drunk barfly will be turning in the last guy that broke it off in'em. The police will then be submerged in suspects, DNA profiles will be 2 years behind. They will be demanding your beagle dog give up a DNA sample. All in the name of law and order.

Several of the guys that were falsely accussed by irate women have now been awarded damages, because they were forced to submit to DNA testing with no grounds.

By the way in the case of Derrick Todd Lee, he killed 7 or 10 women, they state police task force caught him- nope. The local BR PD-nope. The FBI-- nope. It was a civilian investigator with the state attorney generals office.

Shawn Micheal Gillis-- he killed 8 or 10. Funny thing, police had identifying evidence but this man stayed on the loose another year befoe they arrested him.

Good luck I lost all faith in law enforcement, watching these fiascos.

Scary stuff for sure.

And the US having a disproportionate number of serial killers is an interesting fact. I wonder if it ties into the US having more per capita prisoners than any other country?

Not the first time Gaffney had one. Several years ago they had a guy killing young girls then stuffing them in abondoned refrigerators he was known as the Gaffney strangler or the Cherokee choker he lasted 6 months in CCI.

Doubtful. That statistic certainly is based more on pointless drug convictions than anything else.

Maybe they got him -- but funny how the NY Times is reporting it:

The neighbor, Mike Valentine, called police at about 3 a.m. when he saw the vehicle back up toward a vacant house across the street. ...

When police officers arrived, they knocked on the door several times, said Mr. Valentine’s wife, Terry. “I heard someone holler, ‘Put it down,’ ” Terry Valentine said. “I heard the first shot go off, then I heard, ‘Bam-bam, bam-bam.’” ...

Four doors down from the house, Pam and Gene Gunter watched nervously from lawn chairs outside their home.

Gotta love life in the South -- sitting in a lawn chair at 3am watching a police shootout 4 doors down.

I lived in BR then. I now live in SC. I think they believe the SC serial killer may be a guy shot during a break in earlier today.

Thank God they got him, hats off to all the LEO's that tracked this lowlife down and saved the taxpayers a lot of money in the process

Still makes you wonder why someone with a rap sheet like that all of sudden started killing people, guess we will never know

BR = Baton Rouge.

It's not a state; it's a whole other planet.

No LEO's tracked this guy down -- they got lucky when someone called in a possible burglary of a vacant house. See my post above yours -- the one about how funny the reporting is from the NY Times.

IF you watch any of the press conferences this was what the Sherriff and Chief of Police in Gaffney thought would help better than anything, get the press involved as much as possible so ALL citizens would be on the look out. In the words of Sheriff Blanton to the media "ya'll use us all the time for information and now we are looking for you to help us get information and make everyone aware of this person"

No matter what still glad it is over, this one hit too close to home

I went back to my office late one night to finish up a project and there was a mary kay meeting going on on the first floor. This is before they identified derrick todd lee and were still talking about the white van and of course profiles of serial killers are white. Anyway I pulled into the parking lot and the ladies scattered like quail from a covey. I grabbed my bag and they had locked me out of the building so I went to the side door and let myself in and went upstairs to my office. The media and police reports had the women so hysterical they had the police search the building looking for me as a suspect. My coworkers thought it was hilarious that they worked with the "serial killer".
