Dang you learn something new every day besides Lures
The bull sharks are not just hanging around the bayous and swamps. They have been caught some 900 miles up the Mississippi River.
"They have been captured in St. Louis. They have traveled 2500 miles up the Amazon. They have some mechanism in their make-up that allows them to process freshwater and not require high salinity to live." It may seem hard to believe that in the deep swamp of Louisiana bull sharks, one of the most dangerous species of shark, are swimming in the swamp.

Default That's amazing...

I have always wanted to fish in Lake Ponchatrain. Although driving over it from New Orleans to Baton Rouge late at night, it is not some place I'd like to break down. I loved Louisiana. I miss it.

I read that alligators don't bite stuff underwater -- only bite stuff at the surface or on land. Can any of our resident THT gator experts confirm this?

Doesn't matter if the gator is on land, in the water, or where ever, if he bites you it ain't good. Biggest deal with the gators is the uneducated idiots that think it is intertaining to feed'em ham sandwiches or honey buns. You get a 8' gator associating people with food and BIG BAD THINGS are gonna happen. I have had to push one off the side of my boat when he tried to go for a ride with me. Gives a whole new meaning to "REPEL BOARDERS". You know you can break a large boat paddle over a gators head and it don't impress him at all.

Bull sharks I have caught them in Lake Maurepas, no doubt in my mind that they are in the Amite/Blind river. Shucks I have caught little white trout at the blind river bar, that's 10 miles inland from lake Maurepas.

Hmmmm, I've been call a lot of things in the past, but never one of those. I guess you've got to really hate those cheap bastards that only feed the gators ham sandwiches and honey buns, I feed them crab and lobster , it's cheaper. You know, we tourists don't give a rat's ass about your problems; how else are we supposed to get great close up pictures of your backyard dwellers? No trip to the south is complete without seeing a few dozen.

We've had inland and freshwater sharks here for years. The locals call them Lawyers.
