Random Quote: Never be afraid to try something new. Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic.
#1 Cordless drill, I use it for everything 19.2 Volts. #2 Reciprocating saw, awsome tool, can cut through anything. I tell my wife I can cut our house in half with this thing. #3 estwing hammer. #4 nail gun and compressor. Hell I got so many I'd be here forever, but those are my favorite.
dont ever tell your wife you can cut the house in half..........are you crazy????????.............lol lol lol.......................... .....jim.......sawzall very nice to have....
Metabo Angle Grinder.... great tool and seems to last forever, knock on wood
18 volt Dewalt Hammer drill with 3 speeds... Makes more torque than most ricers.
Porter Cable Porta Band.... once again great tool at lasts forever.
Hand Tool?
Leather man wave, maybe one of my SOG knives. Gotta love a sledge. I dont really use handtools all that much
cordless hammer drill, Dewalt 18V, used for everything including stripping line off reels. Got the 3 speed, still have not found a need for #3 though, it is crazy fast.
cordless recip saw, Dewalt 18V, used for everything from cutting electrical wire (big wire), conduit, tree limbs...you name it.
dremel. A must have. Mainly use the cutoff tool for whe I loose a key to a padlock.
Hand tools...well really its a combination of them...craftman mechanics tool set is mighty handy, although I have recently replaced using the manual wratches at the house with an air wratchet.
Are you in the market for something specific? I use tools all day long have lots of them. Not sure what I should list (it is a pretty long list) that would help you.

While I have not spent the bucks on the likes of Dewalt, I did get a Ryobi 18 volt combo (Drill, sawzall, small cirucular saw) and I love it. It's been great. I don't need the contractor grade like the dewalts or ridgid, but I wouldn't refuse if Santa brought me a set..
Got some craftsman and black and decker corded tools like circular saw and sanders and such. All great!
Hand tools are pretty much all craftsman.. But they seem to be walking away over the years and need to be updated..

My #1 power tool has to be my General cabinet table saw w/ Excaliber commerical grade 56" fence.
My #1 power hand tool either goes to my Milwaukee Sawzall or circular saw.
My #1 air tool has to go to my Ingersoll Rand 605 lb (I think that is what it is) impact driver - frees it or busts it, it's all good but my selection of Porta Cabler nailers is a real pleasure as well.
My #1 cordless tool has to go to my Panasonic drill.
My #1 hand tool is a toss up between any of my Snap-On tools, pfeil bench chisels or my Lie_Nielsen hand plans
My #1 gas powered tools is another toss up, my BannerMan trimmer, John Deere lawn mower and my Poulan chain saw.
My #1 sprayer has to go to Binks.
My #1 most enjoyable tool to use, is my tool.
But my most important tool of all has to be speech and communication.
I generally buy Craftsman tools because of good service and great warranty. I purchased a combo pack back last year that included a 19.2 volt 1/2" keyless chuck drill, saws all, trim saw, fluorescent lantern, two batteries and a charger. I love this kit!!! I have used these tools more than anything else since I started on the interior of my garage. It is so nice not to have to drag a drop cord around!!
I have been happy with 18 v dewalt for cordless. If your looking to save, you can skip the little circ saw. good for 2x4's and not much else.
I am curious to try Rigid (HD Brand), made by ryobi. may not be the best, but I think they have a life time return/replace policy. not bad.
Can't beat craftsman hand tools, rachets etc.
Big fan of porter cable sanders (cord) and have a B&D circ saw that works, but I suspect it is on the low end of quality.
Just bought a belt sander at a garage sale for $2. I bet it 30 years old.
More tools than you can shake a stick at, but currently I do not personally own any stationary power tools, though I hope that will change soon enough!
Hand tools: Craftsman--can't beat them for price or warranty--and that includes tape measures and hammers, as well as hydraulic jacks and jack stands
Corded Power tools: preference lies with Porter Cable, but I also own some B&D and Craftsman (mostly gifts)
Favorites would include the plate joiner and the jig saw (both P.C.), though I'm also really fond of my handheld planer
Cordless power tools: preference Porter Cable, though I have used most other brands, currently own only a 14.4v drill P.C.
As for multi-tools, I have one thing to say: Gerber, Gerber, Gerber.
My girlfriend bought me a mug about 6 years ago at Sears that says, "I'm not nuts I just love my tools."
Couldn't be more appropriate.
