Yikes if the shortest cycle is now 115 minutes, I am keeping mine forever!!!!! After 90 minutes in our house, its time for the next load!

Our short cycle is 6 minutes (rinse)

62 minutes water miser wash

72 minutes normal wash

86 minutes pots and pans "super duper tear off the enamel" cycle

Second, our local dealer is a dope.
Third, the best part about them is the 3rd tray for silverware but I think you can get that option w/ the Bosch.
It wont matter because finding a miele for 600 bones or a bosch will be a challenge.

My Mieles have outlasted my Bosches 3-1- are just as quiet clean even better. The third rack makes a big difference and I dont hink you can get it, but for 600 again- he wont be getting a new bosch.

Id be happy to pay 1/2 for the Bosch if it lived half as long but it lives 1/3 for half price.

Not bashing Bosch- they make great products.
I really like(d) all my bosch products-after, but I prefer Miele after owning both.

Net net is the Euro dishwashers perform better than their American counterparts use less water, soap, and hold more dishes (dues to them using filters vs grinders that take up space) but there is a trade off -much longer wash cycles.

I thought 115m was long also so I rechecked and for its worth CR says cycle time is for normal wash INCLUDING HEATED DRY on washers where that is available. That makes a bit more sense.

We have purchased one Kenmore Elite, made by Bosch, and one Bosch for our last two houses. Both of them heat the water during the wash and have convection drying, that's why the long wash cycle. They have both been exceptionally quiet and seem to do a great job of washing the dishes. I am less thrilled with the convection drying, but if you wait for awhile, the dishes do get pretty dry, except for the cupped ends of glasses and goblets. Both were somewhat more than $600, but I think they were worth it.

Dave, I think you misunderstood my post.
A Bosch is available for 600.
Miele at 1/2 price is 1K. That's what I spent for my Bosch here and only 40 bucks less than my GE.

Local, good, and prompt service here in MA is a big question mark for the Miele and in Maine the service company is almost an hour away and is top notch.

My friend runs an appliance shop in the Boston area. I trusted his advice and he could have sold me anything (although I would not pay a couple grand). He had a Bosch in his home and sold me their higher end model (I did get a friends discount). This was 3 years ago. i could not be more pleased. You cannot hear it run and it cleans very well. There may be others that work as well but my experience with this one has been good.

You can get a low end Bosch for $600. Different motor, pump and heater than other Boschs. Only been on market for one year. Around ten years ago I read Consumer Report on DWs. They gave GE Monogram 5 stars and trashed Bosch. Same machine different buttons. Did same thing with Viking and Asko.

I've been servicing appl. for @ 20 years. I would not spend money on high end DW. I would buy a decent WP or FD. They will heat water and you have to use rinse agent in any modern DW anyway. If they last ten years you got your moneys worth without spending $1000.00 plus on a DW.

Had a Frigidaire that was clunky, noisy and NEVER cleaned thoroughly. Last fall when I renovated my kitchen we went with all GE Profile appliances and we are happy so far. The DW is quiet and cleans exceptionally good.

If you have Sears warehouse near you go there and buy one of the higher to midrange Bosh or similar at or near your budget
