Default Apple computers..I just don't get them.

I just tried to buy one for our company (~4000 users) and found they will not allow any to be purchased on a first time purchase order (even with a credit check) for any order under $10K.

We don't have any Apples right now. I am looking to buying 1 or 2 Macbooks on a trial basis just to support some of our users and see how it supports our applications. We might buy many more..depending on my recomendations... looks like we won't buying any now.

This seems like a self fulfilling action; don't sell me any now..don't sell me any later, either.

That's weird I buy em all the time in 1s or 2s using PO's.

Have you tried a local apple store? or their corp sales dept?

Do yourself a favor and don't buy any. You'll thank me later.

Joe, like shadco recommended, talk to Apple's corp sales dept. If there is a potential you will be buying lots of Apples they should assign you an acct rep/mngr that makes sure everything goes well, you are supported/updated, etc.

different to get used to, but once you get used to them they are much easier to use and navigate through.

I don't understand why you are having a problem. I have been buying Macs since 1994 and never had anyone tell me that I couldn't buy one or two instead of $10,000+ worth. Just get in touch with an Apple store and they'll take care of you. Just talked to a friend who ordered a MacBook last year and has since purchased two more Macs, one MacBook and one Imac for the office. She didn't tell me she had any problems.

I will never buy a Apple product,
my wife has bought one IPOD.

Apple products I will never used them, even if they were free.

I am A IBM/PC kind of guy...

Another stuff I had tought years ago is finally reaching the consumer...
I could never understand why there was touch screen POS/ATM terminals
and no computer screen's with the same technology...

http://www.dell.com/content/topics/t...V4NPH-D90SM-v1

I would like Microsoft to come up with a touch screen Windows software system,
that's where technology is headed...
I'm the guy that 20 years when everbody had "walkmans" and where on the music CD's
craze, I told them hard drives one day will become so small, music will be digitally stored
and CD's will become a thing of the past...

well I never bought a walkman, I had several offer to me that I never used.
Thats good because most of my friends that used them, they all have earing aid's now.

I won't go as far as to say I will never buy an Apple product. I will say that I don't see the value in anything they offer, and I have no need for most of it anyway, so I don't own anything Apple, yet. That may change in the future, but I doubt it. Who knows, maybe Apple will come up with something I can't live without, has decent build quality, works, and is priced reasonably. I'm not holding my breath.

its funny I study Eletronics,
one time 20 years ago I had
a talk with one of my teachers (telecomunications) about sattelite radio,
well long story short it said has not possible due to
a large antenna being needed to receive the broadcast.

"Commie teachers" always saying is not possible...

theres more reasons not to buy a Apple product,
Steve jobs and his cronnies steal
intelectual propriety for people in the military that come up with some of these stuff
and no royalties are ever paid...

its O.K, you can skipp me for your X-mas list.
IBM is in partnership for the Wii...

I have all the products IBM came out and I liked.
If IBM came out with a
new APTIVA computer I will buy another one in the heart beat,
APTIVA's were way more expensive than MAC's...
the black "stealth" ones are still in use 15 years after they were manufactured.
some government institutions (embassy's, etc) still run those.

I used to tell people in the 90's to buy IBM stock, they went to a tough period
for a moment.

"I will never buy a computer that uses a mouse. MS-DOS gives me everything a computer user could ever want or need. Mouses and the GUI are for kids." yadda, yadda, yadda. That was the DOS-head's mantra in 1984. Wait! Then MS invented WINDOWS!! What short memories we have.

with touch screen, the mouse will become
extinct...

IBM was the computer company to come up with a "wireless mouse"
and some of accesory's used in todays computers.
you guys don't want to give credit to IBM in a great deal of your computer
experience/hardware and computer accesory's, however
you are more than willing to give credit to Apple, the power of advertising...

Just Yahoo:

Apple not paying royalties...
Apple is such a scam.

All that "intelectual propriety" stuff can sure make yer brain go into a tizzy, all right. You sure can make a feller think on all them hifalutin'n words and deep concepts. Lucky fer you ya didn't have none of those commie teachers when YOU went to school (you DID go, didn't you?)

Don't count on it. Apple-holics were saying the same thing about the iPhone, how it's touch screen would end the need for buttons on a cell phone. Didn't happen, won't happen. Touching a screen smears oil and gunk around at best, damages the plastic cover at worse.

I agree with you -- actually, everyone that evaluates computers also agrees with you -- IBM provides a remarkably robust product. But its market is business first, consumer second.

I bought the I phone. I wasn't planning on it but when I got to the ATT store and compared phones it was a no brainer. I am not an appleholic and am really pleasently surprised by the phone. It works almost flawlessly for me around the world except for the short battery life. I don't have a problem with grease and stuff with the touch tone screen. They have thin plastic covers to put over the screen and is a no brainer to replace. That being said, I have had the same one on for over 3 months now. HOWEVER, I did look at the touch screen computers and would not buy one of them because all I could picture was the kids fingerprints coating the screen. Also, I wanted to buy a mac but just can't get over the price tag. It doesn't make sense to me to pay that much extra.

Finally, since Fidster seems to touched a soft spot with T3......

t3 is missing the point.
Apple has a "communist" mentality, its ok for other to pay royalties
to US, however we will try not to pay royaltie's to other's...

Apple is a scam, to me is avoid at all cost,
to you is the greatest thing since slice bread.
Whatever, in 15 years when your kids will be wearing earing aid's
due to ipods, maybe we can talk about Apple again and how good their products really were...
